Buying into HGV from which side?

We’re looking for some help. We currently own 6000 Bluegreen points, and 8000 HGVC points. We are considering a “qualifying” purchase to get access to HGVMax. Would it be better to make a purchase through Hilton, or through Bluegreen? Does it matter. With a HGVMax membership, could I exchange BG points as well as HGVC points? Thanks

Why? What are you trying to accomplish with this purchase?

Potentially, access to the DRI resorts, and elimination of reservation fees.
We struggle to use up all of our HGVC points with the limited access. We seem to always be short of BG points.

You are going to spend way too much for that access, in my opinion. The shorter booking window (6 months) prevents you from booking the high and even mid demand properties. The amount you will spend, you could purchase more BG points resale. I would not recommend HVC/DRI points in any capacity. Resale is too restricted and retail is too much money to spend. The MF's and club fees are astronomical.

Does it matter
aside from the points dayooper made, I doubt it matters. The salesppl you meet in a "HGVC" presentation seem to be mostly selling Diamond Trust now (maybe even BG, but not sure if that has been confirmed yet). They decide what they want to sell you and will be happy to blur the truth about what that is.
Lesson: regardless of the name on the resort in which you are sitting, ask over & over & over "EXACTLY what is this you are trying to sell me?" Then read it before signing anything.
anyway: what dayooper said

Well, we haven't learned the details of BG integration into HgvMax but I believe it will be very similar to HVC/DRI. You must understand that HgvMax is nothing more than an exchange system between the various Hilton clubs similar to RCI. So you will still have your original club and its rules such as BG or HGVC or HVC/DRI. HgvMax allows you to exchange into the other club(s) at the 6-month mark so don't expect much availability at that point. As far as combining points between the various club, we have heard that you can do that to make a reservation < 6 months out (I am not in HgvMax so this is reported by others).

If you own BG and HGVC, you will still have two accounts in the future. Now, sure expect HGV IT to setup a single frontend login, but then you will need to select which account either BG or HGVC.
Would it be better to make a purchase through Hilton, or through Bluegreen?
neither. @dayooper already told you why we feel this way.

you can buy a resale at craig lodges to get into DEX, which, in my opinion, provides better access to more properties than MAX (i have both). you won't get free reservations, but you'll likely save enough to pay for reservation fees for life :)

Avoid MAX.
