buy or trade into scottsdale?

I like to visit Scottsdale at least once a year due to extended family down there. I sometimes go during the very high season, sometimes over less popular winter weeks and sometimes, I am sorry to say, into the summer. But I live and like to ski and hike Colorado.

Is there any general popular wisdom on how easy it is to pull a nice 2-bdrm trade in scottsdale, or should I buy scottsdale and try to trade for colorado? I've noticed reasonbly-priced Winter Park ski weeks. Would a lower end ski week pull a nice summer week in vail or a non-holiday week in Scottsdale?
