Disaster doesn't really describe it. Reading this article makes one think twice about using the "supplied" bottles....

We'll be purchasing our own from the local CVS and taking it with us from location to location from now on.

Why I never would use bulk. Ppl are really disgusting and do quite disturbing things for sport. Will just bring my own.

Perhaps Marriott did see this coming and people are doing exactly what Marriott anticipated. If more guests bring their own toiletries and don't even use the bulk toiletries, Marriott will save even more dollars!

Some cruise lines are also going with bulk toiletries on their cruise ships. We do not like this new practice.

I don't usually like what they provide so we bring our own anyway. Once in a while the lotion or soap will be ok, but never use the shampoo and conditioner.

Marriott cares about the bottom line. I travel an enormous amount for my job and I’ve made friends with multiple mangers across all hotel brands and they all tell me the same story. They tell their guests they are going green and they save money by not washing towels or bed lines daily and they will save money on the bulk toiletries because they will conveniently forget to refill the bulk canisters in the rooms.

I clock about 25-30 hotel nights per year. Many have these bulk dispensers. They have always been full, seem to be securely locked, and if they are germ magnets I haven't been the worse for wear.

I have used these types of refillable dispensers for years and years at gyms and am living to tell my story....100% unscathed.

Why do people do a lot of things?

I'm not too worried about using these bottles but I continue to think back to when I was in 5th grade and walked into the boy's room and four 6th graders had the bottles of liquid soap off the walls and were urinating into them. That thought has never left my mind...

Is there risk, sure. But so is there every time we go out of the house, get on the road and esp, eat out. Personally I don't think this is a big deal.

This is one of those small probability large impact type risks.

I travel a lot and hate it. The ability to tamper with bulk toiletries is a serious concern. I realize the chances of it happening to you are small, but once it happens, imagine the exposure.

Not worth the savings or green profile IMHO.

Hotels in the nation's most populous state will have to stop giving guests small plastic shampoo bottles under a new law set to take effect starting in 2023.

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Wednesday he had signed a law banning hotels from giving guests plastic bottles filled with shampoo, conditioner or soap. It takes effect in 2023 for hotels with more than 50 rooms and 2024 for hotels with less than 50 rooms.

I just amazed that anyone uses the hotel provided toiletries at all! If I have to use hair products that are hotel provided my hair gets very dried out. I also bring my own bath gel because the bar soap dries my skin as well. I've been reusing my travel size bottles for so long that the ink has rubbed off, but they still work and I just have to top them off before each trip. I have no fear of cooties.

I am way more creeped out by any establishment that still uses bedspreads instead of duvet covers. If I see those in a photo, I won't stay there.

We find some are borderline at best but on average what we've experienced are good to very good. Unfortunately for Marriott timeshares (other than HI) they have been borderline at best for a while now. We found the bulk dispensers using the company in an earlier photo to be very good. We stay a lot in Fairfield and they have tiny bottles of Paul Mitchell. The bulk dispensers we've seen on cruises have not been very good products.
