Bored, so decided to attend an "update"

Stops their hounding and harassing in their tracks. Sounds like CW is more lax.

Doesn't agreeing to attend a presentation only if they give you $500 also do the same? I will never turn down an update if they meet my price. The last two times I checked into a MVC property they didn't meet my price so no presentation. They tried calling my phone but I never answer the thing as numbers not in my contacts list go straight to voice mail.

I've played with the numbers and can't figure out how you guys came up with 625 years!
Although I think the funniest thing would be if the OP went back to the salesperson and said, "Some friends and I were talking about the break-even point on this purchase, and we couldn't agree on the number. Some of us thought it was 625 years, while others thought it was 208 years. Can you help me check our math?" :ROFLMAO:

I have to say that for $100K, we bought 1,000 Disney points 18 months ago. Disney points resale for about $80 per point. We get perks for staying onsite at Disney, perks in the parks (lounges), plus we are able to rent points we don't use for almost twice our MF's.

Wyndham's resale is $0. We cannot rent Wyndham anymore.

Talk about throwing money away.

We were able to convert our PAHIO Bali Hai and Shearwater weeks for a total of $20K spend, and for that spend we had 2 VIP Founder's accounts with over 2.3 million in one, 1.7 million in the other. That was 18 years ago, but it was a great deal, and we knew it. Of course we paid for the PAHIO weeks, so all in we paid $140K for 4 million developer points. Let that sink in.

Thanks. You hit on one of the top things on my list and helps me decide this may be the time to change. As we are all told, change is inevitable!

The fact that DVC, the largest entertainment company in the world; made their exit, spoke volumes to me. All I can do now to fix that is to buy into them directly. And I'm hoping that will mean I won't be stuck at SSR on some random date anymore. Gotta work through this fiasco first, but looking forward to educating myself more on DVC in the next year.

There are some great things to buy resale that are worthy of the cost and the MF's. This includes Disney, but also includes Westin, Marriott, and even some generic weeks in great locations.

This is a depressed market for anything you buy timeshare currently. Wyndham is out of their minds to offer anything for $100K that won't even get two weeks of vacation a year in a 2 bedroom.

We just purchased two units, passed ROFR with Westin, oceanfront center two bedroom lockoffs at Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Villas The value of those is phenomenal. We stay on Maui six weeks a year so this makes total sense for us. We rent the studios.

Thanks. It's just really hard. I own nothing but Wyndham. Been super loyal to them. It sucks more than any of you can imagine. Franz told us it would never go down this way when he sold these deeds.

Edit: You all probably understand. Feel kinda selfish they way I said it.

For years I followed Ron and Joan and the lifestyle they pioneered. I was so envious and built my empire to do just that. And in a few short months, I'm being stripped of this unless I fall in line with the new program. I'm super disappointed. It's the last trick they'll pull on me though.

Edit: sorry I've drifted off topic. Move anything you need to. Sorry!

". . . lower my maintenance fees @ $40/month if I buy 300k more points for $100,000."

Breakeven point is a couple hundred years from now, disregarding the time value of money.
Do the math? How can buying 300K more points lower your maintenance fees. You would be in debt for $100.000.00 dollars.
I feel that TS salesperson thought he had a sucker sitting at the table. LOL
Your Answer! No! No!

What has changed for you with Wyndham? Just buy more resale with less MF's per point. Are you losing benefits that you had before, or is it a salespeople who is telling you something that is probably not true.

Ron and Joan are to be admired. They are more settled now, but what a journey they had!

I have to also add that 1,000 DVC points gets us 4-6 weeks in a 1 bedroom unit at Disney resorts. Even Disney's Riviera is 153 points for 6/7-6/14 in a studio, and it's my favorite resort at Disney because it's on the Skyliner.

What does stripped of this? What is the new program?

To the OP, how were you able to attend the timeshare sale presentation without you spouse? Especially as a resale owner. LOL.

$40/month x 12 months/year = $480/year

$100,000/$480/year = 208.333 years

Where did I go wrong?
You’re right. I have no idea where I went wrong.

And without too much effort, you could turn around and resell that if you had to on DVC Resale Market for $80k-$90k (you broke them up into smaller contracts, right?).

Yes, but we aren't selling them, not in my lifetime.

Sorry, by new program I was referring to CWA which is not a new program, but new to me. LOL!

Stripped, I think I can work on explaining my view of this. Let me work on that and gather my thoughts. It's been on my mind since yesterday.
