For phone booking, the time is 9 AM Eastern Time, one year in advance.

What is the earliest time for online booking? 9 AM ET, or 12:01 AM ET? or 2:01 AM ET?

PS-I have a Platinum plus spring break week at Aruba. Can I book a Platinum week online (realizing that there is no charge booking a Platinum week in this case)?

9AM EST for online booking as well.

As for booking a Platinum week if you own a Plat. Plus week- I don't know if that has to be done in person or not. If you go to the website and sign in and click on your week to make reservations, the available reservation date calendar will pop up. If you see January and early Feb. weeks with Fri., Sat., and Sun. in green (marked as available to book reservations) then you can book a Platunum week online.

I just went on-line. It just indicated that I am not one year out from my 2009 week; and therefore I can not book on-line. This implies I can not book any week (besides my Platinum plus week) online?

Seema- In that case, I would assume you will have to call to book another week. I am assuming from your inquiry that Plat. Plus Spring break ownership in Aruba is entitled to book another Platinum season week (I know that is allowed in some of the resorts). The system is probably set up like booking at 13 months with 2 or more weeks, where the online system just can't handle exceptions.

Isn't this just stupid? You pay $20-$30 thousand (or more) for a Week and pay Hell to use it. Something is wrong here. For that kind of money you should get what you want, not have to compete for it.

I want to reserve a gold week in Orlando that I will then do a deposit first into I.I. Does is matter which gold week I pick to exchange? Should I take the gold week with the best Travel Demand Index rating through I.I? Or is a gold week a gold week and maybe better to reserve the first one of the year so I can have a longer exchange time through I.I?

Yes, it absolutely matters which week you reserve.

II doesn't care whether Marriott calls a week "Gold" or "Platinum" or something else. Those designations are purely for Marriott sales and reservations purposes.

II assigns an exchange value to each deposited week based on its evaluation of how strong a trader that week is. (That exchange value is known only to II personnel.) So you'll want to deposit the strongest trader you can. The Demand Index is a good indicator of trading value, but not the last word. In general, you want to reserve and deposit the single week that you believe is more likely to be wanted by other vacationers than any other week in your Gold season. Usually, that means a school vacation or other holiday week.

While most of the time there isn't much of a problem, esp. if calling as soon as booking is available, admittedly sometimes (esp. for high demand weeks) people don't get what they want. The trade-off is not being locked into the same vacation week each year. That allows you to change when you go away according to job or personal needs, or just on a whim.

For example, for the last several years we were tied to a college/grad school schedule, so the beginning of January was an ideal vacation week for us. Our younger daughter graduates law school this year, so school schedules are no longer a factor. Next year I'd rather travel the beginning of February, when I am getting sick of the winter cold. Having a floating beach week gives me the option to change according to our mood or professional/personal needs. To me, that's worth the inconvenience of having to make a phone call. And- if we have an issue with the week we've booked far enough in advance (not last minute like this year unfortunately) for $29 we can likely switch the week. I like that flexibility.

Realistically, there is no way to have a floating week system without the need to call and reserve in advance, because there are only so many units to go around.
