Bonvoy credits for Marriott timeshare stays

I have 3 upcoming Marriott timeshare stays all reserved through II. I am a Marriott owner who deposited with II.

Only one of the 3 stays shows in my Bonvoy account as "upcoming"; one of the stays not showing on my Bonvoy account is at the same resort as the one that does!

So the first question is - does this matter? In particular should I get elite night credit for the timeshare stays? I never paid attention before since I previously wasn't close to status, but I am this year. Are there any other cross over benefits?

If there are benefits, how do I get credit for the stays not showing?

Thanks.

From the Loyalty Program Terms and Conditions:

7.1.c Due to the nature of Marriott Vacation Club and Marriott Grand Residence Club properties, the following special conditions apply to their participation in the Loyalty Program:

i. Members will earn Elite Night Credit for a Qualifying Stay at Marriott Vacation Club and Marriott Grand Residence Club properties, and for stays at Participating Properties as part of the MVC Exchange Program (e.g. City Explorer).

As long as your Bonvoy number is attached to the reservation, you should get credit. You can just give it to them at check in. Or you can attach the reservation to your bonvoy account now online by logging and going under my trips. It will say search by reservation number and you can just add the number from your II confirmation certificate. There is a confirmation number and a reservation number on the cert- if I remember correctly you want the number in the colored box on the cert ( try the other one if that does work). My stays usually show up automatically on my bonvoy but this works when they don’t.

love your screen name!

If you choose to give the bonvoy number at check in, make sure they have it listed correctly. I was told 2 times they had the correct number, turns out it was my phone number.

If they are consecutive reservations at the same resort, pay attention to the dates in the bonvoy app, sometimes the dates will be combined, it has happened to me. I Received all nights under 1 reservation

My experience is different from Pamplemousse's.

Yes, if I sign onto the Marriott website and enter my reservation number, the website will then show my upcoming stay. But it usually will not then add it (retain it) under My Trips once I sign off.

Here is what works for me:
  • I usually phone the resort about 3 weeks before our stay to place a room request. During that same phone call, I ask the phone agent to add my Marriott Bonvoy account number to the reservation. (Once the resort does this for me, I can then often see the upcoming stay listed on the Bonvoy website under My Trips.)
  • At check-in, I verify that the account number was added correctly - that's the most important step, and we add it then if there has been any problem.
  • Finally, I check out at the front desk, ask for a printed copy of our receipt (so that I have proof of the stay if needed), and verify that the printout shows the correct account number (typically it will show the last 4 digits). Then I will check the Bonvoy website a few days to a week later to be sure the nights post.

Are there any other cross over benefits?
  • Marriott Bonvoy hotel status is not supposed to matter at timeshare resorts. However, our batting average with our room requests at Marriott resorts is fairly good. I have never understood exactly why this is. Is it at all related to our Bonvoy status (both my wife and I have Titanium status)? Or is it because we are Marriott timeshare owners and this puts us higher up on the pecking order? There is no question that the timeshare resorts can see our Bonvoy status because we are often told at check-in "Thank you for your Titanium status."
  • With certain levels of Bonvoy status, you are eligible for a "gift" at check-in, both at Marriott hotels and Marriott timeshares. At timeshares, this means 1,000 Bonvoy points when we check in for a 1 week stay because of our Titanium status. We don't play the Destination Club points game, so I simply don't know if there is a similar "gift" for shorter, several day points stays. (Mea culpa - I sometimes forget this. The 1K points is not automatic. If the front desk agent doesn't mention it, you need to remind them, and I do tend to forget.)

Marriott resorts I have been to, the bonvoy status has no bearing per my experiences. I am lifetime Titanium, wife and son are Titanium and we are chairmans club 6x over and has not made a difference. Actually I dont even get recognized as chairman status when checking in.

In my experience,

go to my trips...look up by confirmation number to get the reservation to come up.....go to the bottom to guest details......near the bottom there is a place for your bonvoy number....add it.......I then get an email from Marriott sometimes half a day later thanking me for booking directly with them!

I also use this method to put the reservation in my husbands name, changing the name and adding his bonvoy number. Since we are both on the II confirmation it causes no problems and I just always book II reservations under my sign in.

We do find we are acknowledged as titanium ( lifetime) and are told about the welcome points. When we have stayed as guests of our chairman friends we get best in category rooms and a welcome card and sometimes a little welcome gift.

Yes, II exchanges/Getaways at MVC resorts count for Elite Nights. You should get credit for all 21 nights if none of the nights are concurrent but if any are, you'll get only one EN credit for any overlapping nights. If two or three of the reservation confirmations run consecutively, you may get only one Welcome Gift for the first day of the first consecutive reservation.

The only guaranteed benefits are the Elite Nights, any Welcome Gifts that your current status earns, and bonus Bonvoy Points on any incidental spends during your stay. (Note II exchange/Getaway fees do not earn bonus points.) In my experience Lifetime Titanium (Bonvoy) status means nothing except for cash stays booked through marriott.com, and, Chairman's Club (MVC) status has made a difference in very few of our unit placements but once we were gifted with a bottle of wine and a thank-you card from the resort manager.

You can try any of the ideas that others have posted to attach your Bonvoy Number in advance but if you run into difficulty, which is and always has been a fairly common irritating issue, just give them your number at check-in and make sure before you check out that it's showing in your account during the stay. Request a folio print-out just in case you have to follow-up after the stays: How Do I Request Credit for a Missing Stay?

As Sue notes, it doesn't always work, and it goes back to II saying that they should not be added due to cross information causing glitches. See this post/thread: https://tugbbs.com/forums/threads/h...-to-interval-reservation.207654/#post-1600000

If it doesn't work online, one can try calling, but this also is hit and miss. They will always take it at check-in.

We just added a II exchange to my Bonvoy account online on the Marriott hotel website.

Easy, the website asks about any missing up-coming reservations then asks for the reservation number. Boom it is there.

Tried it. It works! I signed onto my wife's Bonvoy account, added her as a guest to a timeshare reservation that was in my name, and then put her Bonvoy number. I checked the next day and it still showed as a future reservation in her Bonvoy account. And a few days later I called the resorr to place a room request and verified that the resort could see her Bonvoy number attached to this reservation.

Thanks for posting the tip. How to do this has mystified me for several years.

I have a 4 day promotional stay (sales) at Newport Coast Villas. I assume those nights will NOT count for Bonvoy status. Can anyone confirm.
