My SIL and two nieces are going to Disney to watch another niece march in a band or something, and I got them a four-night reservation at Bonnet Creek. SIL doesn't want to rent a car since they will be there for such a short time and parks are on the agenda every day so the free park shuttles would serve their needs. I've never gone to Orlando without a car - is it better to take a taxi or a shuttle (3 passengers) to and from the airport? Does BC have an onsite convenience market for stuff like milk & bread? Thanks for any info.
 
Unless the price for a rental is too high, I would recommend a car. It is pricey to get to BC from the airport. (Yes they do have a (pricey) market on site). You could get by without a car but doubt you'd save much money.

One nice for me being at BC when my kids were there for high school show choir, was driving over to where they were staying with their group. Call me a crazy show choir mom, but watching my kids practice at 8am in the parking lot of the Disney All Star Music resort was a real kick.
 
I've seen studies that say that kids are better off with parents who are very active in their extra-curricular activities (in addition to school work). So, you're not a "crazy Show Choir mom", you're a great parent!

As a side note, finding people whose kids are coming to Disney for events would be a good market to rent to.

I don't believe there is anywhere to buy groceries nearby, it would be difficult without a car.but you could do it.

There are grocery buying and delivery services that than help with groceries.

Also there is a post somewhere here on TUG where someone reported on how he packed enough food for a week for a family of 5...Extra baggage charges but probably cheaper than renting a car

Marts shuttle who runs the Disney Magic Express charges $38 per person for RT airport to Bonnet Creek. That to me is not bad...plus you won't have to worry about Sunpass or getting lost.

Website to buy RT option...much more expensive if you book separate or one way trips.
 
Thanks for the info. She just doesn't want to deal with a car - she's never driven in Orlando and is a little nervous about it, and they'll be arriving at night in the dark - so it sounds like the airport shuttle will work for her. I've already suggested the idea of her packing a suitcase with her breakfast foods and snacks - it'll cost her $25 to check on the plane but she'll have what she needs and intends to eat lunch and dinner at the parks or DT Disney. I appreciate the input!
 
I don't blame her for not wanting to drive around Orlando.
My daughter stayed with me for two months after the birth of her baby. She froze excess breast milk and got a price to ship it home, $180. She packed it in a cooler and sent it home with her husband when he visited one weekend, cost $35, no ice dry or wet allowed. She then took my rolling cooler home filled with frozen breast milk and that time it was only 25. I don't know how common that is, but I thought it quite unusual.
 
Hummmm.... I posted a lengthy reply and I see it isn't here. Guess it didn't go through!

I would recommend Limousine transportation service by Ivy. She is great! Only $75 from airport to Bonnet Creek - that is for the whole car, not per person! email: 2xtremelimousine@gmail.com, phone: 407-456-4487

Mears Transportation is kind of pricey. I checked online and it was going to cost $135 for the 3 of them one way. Call Ivy and make a reservation. She is from England and has a charming accent.

Publix is the closest grocery store, you can get all sorts of precooked things to make it easier. You aren't really going to want to do a lot of cooking for just a few days. Gets more expensive to buy all the stuff than eat out. You end up with full size things. If she does want to do some prepared food, it helps to bring lots of the individual size condiments that you get from the fast food places, handy to have and easy to pack!
