I have some 28K invisble deposits. What do you think my chances are of getting an exchange into a 2 BR unit at Bonnet Creek for mid to end of March 2009?

Ron

Since most weeks at Bonnet Creek are reserved by owners, I think it would be very difficult to get any kind of exchange. But there are more and more deposits lately, so a 154K deposit might do it, because you are wanting a 2 bedroom, and that is 154K in red time.

Why do you want to stay at Bonnet Creek? I would rather stay at a Hilton, and I have stayed at Bonnet Creek with points, and we had our great unit with view, but I still prefer the Hiltons.

There was a conversation about 28K deposits on the Fairfield Yahoo group recently. It seems they aren't pulling much. I doubt it will happen for you. Sorry.

I like the location and the newness of this resort. I know the Hiltons are top notch and that there are many other very nice resorts in the area as well. I haven't seen many units at this resort through RCI. Now all I have is generic weeks, so I would have to call and check for it. I'd rather not do an ongoing search because quite frankly I don't trust RCI with that. Is this "spring break" timeframe? And if so I guess this is a pretty busy time around DisneyWorld.

Check on the Sightings board, there was a bulk deposit of Bonnet Creek 2beds so you may want to do some sightings request, and be flexible.

It is Wyndham system. So the developer control when and what to deposit. At thi moment, they are in saling mode on that resort. Don't know if they want deposit March or not.
Owner has no say about it. So if you will get any in March is upto their saling result.

As recently as six months ago, I'd've said your chances were zip, because Wyndham didn't ever seem to deposit it. Now, your chances have gone up to "slim", as it has been deposited once in a blue moon, and even during Prime season.

If you really want to get into BC at a discount during what is peak season in Florida, during the period with with the highest Demand Travel Index per II, into what is probably one of the more heavily-demanded resorts in RCI's Orlando portfolio, you probably want to use a larger deposit than a blue studio.

28K doesn't sound like it will pull much anymore. I don't think you will get it, even if there was a bulk bank, but that is prime spring.

I'm going to amend my estimation of your chances back to "none".

I have a summer Wisconsin week on deposit that sees all of the WBC units Cindy posted today in Ex-Ops. I also have a 70K generic, and called to see what it could pull. The red studio could see the 1BR units in Feb/Mar, but not the 2BR units in Oct/Nov.

Oct/Nov is much lower demand than Feb/Mar, so I'm guessing it will be a terrible long shot unless the supply demand curve for WBC or Wyn generics changes drastically.

Looks like it goes from very difficult to zip to slim and back to none !! I've never been to Disney this time of the year, usually Nov., sometimes in June. Is this time overly busy with spring break? And when do people start planning for spring break vacations?? Thanks for you help,

Ron

The best opportunity for you is using your Fairfield points to get into Bonnet Creek that way.

Spring break is very busy, but you didn't mention exact dates. I can look at touringplans.com and tell you how busy.

If you wait until April, that is Value season for Bonnet Creek.

Cindy,

I was thinking Mar. 15-22 or possibly the week before or after. Looks like it takes 224K for the week. Don't have that many pts. left that's why I was hoping on a cheap deposit. If you don't mind let me know what touringplans says about crowds around that time.

Thanks,
Ron

All three of those weeks are pretty similar on the tp.com crowd calendar---not Easter/Christmas insanely busy, but not at all offseason.

Give RCI a call to see if you can get into Wyn Cypress Palms. They recently bulk-banked winter/spring '09, and if there is still a Wyn-internal preference, that will help. It's not Bonnet Creek, but it's not bad, and for 28K, a good deal.

If you really have your heart set on BC, you can rent points from other owners for anywhere from $5-$6/K. forums.atozed.com is one place to look.

Edited to add: oddly enough, the first week of Value season in 2009 happens to be Easter week, which will be insanely busy in the parks. I don't know what moron at Wyndham developed the charts for BC, but they forgot that Easter floats, and sometimes by a lot!

This is a scale from 1 to 10, but there are no 1's and 2's, and only an occasional 3 crowd level listed.
