recently, BOBS has come long island.the prices seem to be very resonable. i was wondering if someone can comment as to how the furniture actually holds up.
it's just me and hubby and 2 cats
thanks

Depends on the brands they carry. Do you know what they are?

My daughter bought a bunch of stuff there when she moved to her own apartment because they are so reasonable. So far everything seems to be of decent quality and I will say their customer service is excellent as was the delivery.

We have dealt with Raymour and Flanagan (a big chain in New England) and they were horrible - I would never go there again.

We bought a couch from there for ourselves last Christmas, (a year ago), and held up very well. I agree that the delivery guys and customer service went above & beyond. However, if you ever come across a Bernie & Phyll's ~ steer clear ~ too many horror stories.

Knew Bob's was expanding, wasn't sure where tho. They're a good store, with some great deals. :cheer:

We have cheap furniture from Bob's in our basement that has held up pretty well.

I agree with Doug about Raymour and Flanagan...never again! What a mess. (Doug, did you go to the one in Norwalk?)

Sharon,

Yes - we were looking for some tables for our family room - looked all over and found some we liked at Raymour & Flanagan in Norwalk. To make a very long story short - one table was damaged (had a dent in the top). I refused delivery. They came back a couple of weeks later with the SAME dented table. Decided to take it and have them "fix" it. It took many visits and many months before we actually received an acceptable table.

I wouldn't shop there again even if the furniture was free.

Irish--

We bought a farmhouse table, 4 chairs and a bench for our kitchen from Bob's maybe 10 or so years ago, "just for now" and I swear the thing represents the best furniture value in our home. It still looks like new and it gets lots of use and abuse. We just got new family room furniture from them as well--a reclining sofa and love seat which so far, we are very happy with for the price. It's certainly not top of the line, but for what it cost, I think the value is excellent.

We had some delivery problems this time around--we made it clear we wanted both pieces delivered together, and twice they tried to deliver only one piece, but it all worked out in the end and the local store manager was truly doing his best to work with what seems like a cumbersome delivery management system.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.

We have the Bob-O-Pedic king size matress and are happy with it. We have also bought other pieces from Bob and have been happy with them too. We did find that one couch wore pretty quickly, but we attributed that to my DW wearing her sneakers while sitting on it, one foot tucked under her.

Never mind wear & tear on the furniture. That iway of sitting is a very bad habit for your leg circulation and knees. My daughter has done it for years and it has wreaked havoc on her knees.

She says it helps her knitting. You may be right though.
