Hello Tuggers!!

I'm having trouble finding information about Bluegreen Vacation club. I just discovered a great looking resort, The Club at Big Bear Village!! It's quite expensive. I'd like to spend 3-4 days there each year.

Can anyone help me find information on this club? I can't seem to find information on this club. I can't seem to find much on here.

Does this club allow resale a to trade within the club or are you limited to the home resort?

Can points be saved and used the following year? Can points be "rescued"?

What are my chances of trading into The Club at Big Bear low season?

Thanks
Jodi

are many threads on TUG about bluegreen, can easily search using this feature here:

http://search.tug2.net

just type in bluegreen and begin reading =)

afaik there is very little differentiation in usage rights between resale and retail points, although a company called "pinnacle" apparently is their preferred source of resale points...I believe the difference there is a higher initial cost of resale (vs free from anywhere else) for perhaps a lower annual maint fee?

BG is a points/trust type system, so you would be able to reserve whatever was available for the points amount you purchased. Note there are a number of different types of points within the system that impact how much the annual fees are....IMO its ridiculously complex...but at least you have time to research it now before buying!

and resale is most certainly the way to go, youll save thousands of dollars.

Jodi, there is a lot to learn about Bluegreen but once you master it, it is an easy system to you.
I would suggest to you that you look for a contract deeded at your preferred resort because resale owners can only book bonus time at that resort. Bonus time can be book at 42 days out at $69/79/89/99 per night based on unit size. As it sounds as if you live locally this could be a great perk. Suggest you do searches here as Brian suggested and also join the Bluegreen Yahoo group.

Bluegreen allows resale points. You can get them for free. Resale points do not count toward tied benefits (I think this is true with almost all points systems), otherwise resale points work just find for reservations at all resorts in the Bluegreen network. Bluegreen is primarily a trust based system. Members belong to the trust and the trust owns the deed. There isn't really a home resort in Bluegreen.

Points can be saved, but saved points cannot be used in high demand seasons. At Big Bear Village the high demand season weeks are 18-19, 20-35, 36-43, 51. Otherwise saved points can be used there.

Fees on 10,000 points are about $995 per year. Some of this is per point charges; some is fixed charges.

You can look at the Big Bear point chart here (scroll to the bottom):

I don't know what rescued points are.

I haven't heard much about this resort from other Bluegreen owners. It is not very popular. Most BG locations and members are in the east; Big Bear is very expensive point-wise (one saturday night would cost all my annual points); and the rooms are all large (3, 4 br) presidential suites. I have read that BG may build more (smaller) units some day. But nothing official.

If there is a simplified FAQ on Bluegreen that you find, I would love the info.

Everytime I look/looked into them, the information is to scattered and conflicting with all kinds of trusts and whatnot. It just feels like information overload in small print all CAPs...

I just can't get behind anything that complicated and the time and research required to figure out what makes the most sense to own for me seems overwhelming in comparison to HGVC.

Big Bear is relatively new to Bluegreen

Big Bear has only recently been added to the Club. As such, there isn't much inventory available yet.
