Blatant DVC exchange rentals on Redweek.com

I need to join a DVC points rental FB group.

I did rent both of my December 5-night studios, one through Koala and another through Redweek. It was pretty easy to rent five nights.

I follow along on quite a few of those groups mostly looking for distressed points/reservations to rent. Personally unless it’s my absolute last choice I wouldn’t rent my DVC on those boards- keep in mind though they give out IMO much more stringent advice to renters for confirming owner reservations…including verifying ownership through county records and boy will they throw a hissy fit publicly if everything isn’t ideal. About 2 years ago - I had a trip planned out that we couldn't make- points would have went into holding -it was priced accordingly- after about a week of nonsense on Facebook - I gifted the 5 night 2 bedroom away to my ex-SIL.

In my world drama dealing with the ex’s family is better than getting doxxed by people that have no idea how DVC works.

Maybe I will stick with Redweek and Koala. I am going to reserve only studios for December next year. It seems that those are the most rentable and low points required.

I cannot use David's regularly. That company makes huge money off of owners. I resent it. They do a good job, that's true, but I have a confirmed reservation listed for January dates, and I haven't gotten a nibble. If they don't rent that one, I will most definitely lose all of the points. Their agreement states that I cannot list it anywhere else. So I guess I am stuck with just renting through them, and I am only getting $14 per point for that reservation. Maybe I should email David's and see if I take that down right away after I rent through another venue, if I would be allowed to rent elsewhere. I think they are very strict. Three nights at the end of January is not a high demand time of year. I may just reduce the price. I think they will allow that.

just curious- David's 5+ years or so used to ask for access to your DVC account, is this still a thing? When they told me that I told them it not so polite words where to go...

No, that's not the case anymore. AFAIK, they never accessed your account but did require me to give our account#.

So much consternation about them making $5 per point on my reservations. It's nice for them, but for owners in the know, it's very expensive.

I had cancelled points I had to use, and that created a need to try and use David's to rent, but it makes me crazy that it came to that. I can get $20 per point by renting December studios next year, as long as I am not competing with exchange rentals. I hope no one gets exchanges for December of next year to Disney resorts. The obvious RW listings of exchanges makes RW a website I need but I don't like them very much.

The verified listings on RW are not renting. Some are priced so ridiculous that a person has to be insane to think they can get $700 per night for a studio, even if it is over Christmas break.
