Best Traders

Marriott's Monarch on HHI trades with RCI and II. No Marriott's on HHI have a lock off but are all good traders because HHI is very desirable. Monarch is not as expensive as the BIG 3 but should be a great trader.
My criteria for a "trader" requires a lock off. I do think there are options worth owning and exchanging part of the time like Ocean Pointe as a good example. DSV I is going to be the only one I'd consider to buy as a trader for both II and RCI.

Is DSV a Marriott or different timeshare company? Thanks!

Marriott's Desert Springs Villas.

The main issue with that property is the higher maintenance fees + separately billed property taxes.

Thank you! I am very grateful for everyone’s advice on here!

I would love to see Polynesian or Riviera or Copper Creek or Aulani on II but I doubt it will ever happen. You never know.

Years ago, we all said that AKL would never be on II.

Beach Club used to show up on II a lot.

I had 10 units for a trip between BCV & BWV one time all 1 &I 2 BR units. In the early days the requirement was for any II deposit to be the home resort. I've had VWL 2 or 3 times. But the system is different now and likely for the better for the DVC owners.

I remember the big push for cheaper weeks to exchange into DVC resorts. I was thrilled to buy a few Foxrun summer weeks to use for those trades. After DVC went to RCI, I sold most of my summer Foxrun weeks for a small profit, doing the closings myself. The weeks were supertraders, and I hope my week 52 I still have at Foxrun continues to have great trading power for DVC. I was able to get 6/14-6/21 for my niece with the week, and I tried to get her to take the week 52 off of my hands. She just didn't want to take on a timeshare. I don't really get the reasoning, since I get her weeks about every two years, always in summer.

I consider trading to be a game that I enjoy. I don't see an end right now but I can foresee a time when Rick and I slow down our travel a bit.

I have a secondary question -
One thing I love about WM is owning a little and being able to buy 2x the amt of points owned annually for less than MF. Any other timeshare systems I should think about where owning a little can get me “in”? Anything like this with MVC?
I agree with you -- one of my favorite features about Worldmark (and Marriott) is the ability to rent points from other owners -- it really eliminates the need to "buy another week" if you can rent the points you need and secure the reservation you want -- in your name.

Worldmark is an amazing system and I love it. I am happy that Marriott took some of the most attractive features from Worldmark and points transfers are one of them. Marriott didn't need to include that (Starwood / HGVC do not allow transfers) and it's very powerful.

I think it's a good decision for you to focus on your Worldmark and opportunistically acquire a cost-effective Marriott trader that allows your to trade with the Marriott preference. This assumes you really want Marriott properties because otherwise, you will travel well with your WM.

Thank you again for your comments and I hope you find the right ownership for you!

Best,

Greg
