Best Timeshare Company in Vegas to Work For...

What "most" Tuggers object to is the unethical practices of the sales people - it has nothing to do with "most here" wanting a resale market for their timeshare.

Agreed. If the only way I could have purchased a timeshare was through a Developer, at Developer pricing, I'd never have purchased one - let alone seven. I bought them all on the resale market for pennies on the (Developer) dollar, and I've enjoyed them all. When and if I felt they were not what I wanted to continue owning, I've passed them along to new happy owners for similar prices - mostly free. I have no complaints, no regrets, and a clean conscience that I essentially gave things away to people who wanted to receive them.

I wanted to say a huge thank you to all who commented here - I appreciate everyone's views (the good and bad) and I do take those on board.

I would 'not' feel comfortable in deceiving people and selling an inferior product which is overpriced.

It's interesting to note Bill's comments on Hilton - which sounds rather more my speed.

Time will tell - again, sincere thanks to everyone who responded.

Oh, and please, I did not mean to offend by posting this question here - my naivety it would seem got the better of me - but on the positive side, I get to hear what people 'really' think, and that is important.

Cheers!
Responding as someone involved in sales and who believes strongly in the value and satisfaction of sales ...

What you need to do is find something that you can sell where at the end of the day you can come home knowing with certainty that someone is better off that evening for having bought what you sold them that day. The negative reaction you receive here about timeshare sales is that in all but the rarest intances, that isn't true of what happens on a timeshare sales room floor. Most people are not better off for having made that purchase on that tour.

There is a saying the timeshare sales business that timeshare are not bought; they are sold. When you strip the wrapping off of that, it means that timeshare sales is really not much more than hustling product on people. If timeshares truly were a value proposition, they would sell themselves.

So God bless you for wanting to do sales. But find something to sell that sells itself because it is the best option out there; all y ou have to do is guide someone through the process, instead of selling something that relies on manipulating and spinning. Sell something where you can tell your prospects to go ahead and take time to investigate, because you know that if they look around the value of your offer will become even more apparent.

Okay, I said I wasn't going to come back and 'bounce' the thread back up again and I sound like a broken record, but I had to come back on - I hope I've made it clear that I really do appreciate everyone's input - the reason I've responded now is that Oglodyte's post (Steve I think) 'really' resonated with me and made perfect sense.

I do want to try sales and I just need to find a product that makes me feel good at the end of each day and where I've given outstanding service and product to the customer.

Thank you and Happy Friday :)

Bill - I have to call baloney on your post!

"Most" Tuggers are not trying to dump their timeshares. "Most" Tuggers enjoy their timeshares. 99% of the posts from people wanting to "dump" their timeshares are total newbies!

What "most" Tuggers object to is the unethical practices of the sales people - it has nothing to do with "most here" wanting a resale market for their timeshare.

Denise, your making me hungry. That baloney is best served between white bread slathered in mustard, imo. :D

I agree with you 100% about the sales staff that are unethical. I do attend presentations in many areas and would have to agree that some sales staff for some resorts use evil sales techniques to sell their product. I see this in Mexico quite often.

In the USA I haven't seen the same type of techniques used at presentations as they violate the terms of employment under state requirements for selling timeshares. That being said Im sure that there are some that use deception as a tool.

I haven't seen this unethical behaviour at any of the Worldmark by Wyndham presentations I attend. In fact, more than a few of our acquaintances and friends have bought a Worldmark account from Wyndham because of the product called Travel Share. The presentations are low key and the cost for this is affordable. Not as affordable as ebay.

I have been to two Marriott presentations and while the sales person was truthful the cost was more than what I would consider affordable.

Then there are those individuals that broker time shares without regard to what is legal. Most personal websites that promote the sale, rent or any distribution of a timeshare property are required to have a brokers license number on it and a disclosure statement. While it is legal to broker your own properties there are limits. It is totally illegal to broker some one elses ts property without the proper license even if no money changes hands.

One of the top complaints about ts's has been resales. Many if not most do not believe that their ts contract, for the most part of them anyway, are underwater. The last one I sold was a give away that costed me about $1200 to be rid of because I had to pay the mf and transfer costs.

In my experience with timeshares to date I did buy one from the developer in mexico where they totally lied about most everything but after finding tug I was able to rescind and then buy a bigger unit resale. I believe you originally helped me on this way back when Denise, so thanks. :D
