We are traveling to Cabo in January and the flights from Philadelphia are high but I don't know what the usual cost is for this time of the year. We could also fly out of Newark. Has anyone traveled to Cabo this time of year from this area that could give me a ballpark idea of what flights should cost and when to book?

Thank you,
Diana

The $500 - $600 range is good, less than $500 is great, lately the fares have been over $600 most of the time. The best fares are usually out of Newark. Buying airline tickets is always a crap shoot.

don't feel too bad. I just booked my tickets for our January trip to Cabo (San Diego to Cabo) and paid $450 on Alaska. The prices haven't budged since the summer. I'm hoping that there will be a price drop because Alaska will credit your account, but I don't expect anything. (But I would feel better about this price if the flight was longer than 2 hours. Somehow I feel like I'm getting ripped off!)

klpca- that is crazy! You are only a hop, skip and a jump away! I need tickets for Puerto Vallarta and I'm holding off as they're still in the $600 range from Vegas - I've never paid this much for airfare to MX! And then I have two back to back Cabo trips after PV and my husband is going to kill me if these fares don't go down!

Dmiller1 - This is what I did last year - I like US Airways schedule, so I clicked on their "specials" link on their website every day. They usually have a 'Mexico' specials deal. Well one day in January it was down to $129/ea. way so I booked our tix and called all our friends that were going but no one else booked theirs and they never went down (that they could ever find). All of the couples that traveled with us ended up paying more for their tickets. I'm pretty sure they were only $129 that one day.

I admit I haven't been as vigilant about checking daily this year, but now that it's fresh in my head I'm going to start scouring the US Airways page every day.

Good luck! Hope you (and me) find some smokin' deals (and soon, please!!!).

No Smokin Deals here in Philly

I looked last week and the fare from Newark, NJ to Cabo was $3,483 for the 6 of us and then we decided to book the flight on Sunday and it was up to about $3,750. We booked the flights and we're not going to look anymore. We also bought vouchers for the Tropicat jazz sunset cruise and for Wild Canyon for ziplining. Since we are close by to the restaurant Villa Serena and someone on Tripadvisor said that they liked the breakfast there I think I'll get some vouchers for there as well. Only a few months to go!

We also bought vouchers for the Tropicat jazz sunset cruise !

We are going to Cabo late next year. Where do you find the vouchers for the sunset cruise you mentioned? Regarding flights we will definitely be watching once the start posting. We got a Alaska Visa card and in addition to 25,000 miles we will get a companion ticket each year for $99. Sounds like a good deal.

There are three different programs for restaurant/activity/car/fishing etc discounts:

http://www.loscabosguide.com/discount.htm (My favorite - have used lots of these).

http://www.thecabostore.com (I've used these too, but they don't have quite the selection as los cabos guide).

www.loscabospassport.com (2 for 1 card)

The first one above offers vouchers (kind of like monopoly money :) ) and if you call Tracy at the number on their website, she'll help you figure out how much $$$ to buy for the number of people in your party. There are many outstanding restaurants from which to choose.

Thank you. I will check these sites out.
