Looking to go for 1 week or less. I would like your opinion on which time shares you like. I would favor the Marriott but there are others I don't know much about.

Don't forget to check the TUG ratings & reviews for Nevada.

It somewhat depends on who you're exchanging through and what your preferences might be.

Polo Towers, Marriott and HGVC all have relatively high standards and good locations. Polo Towers is a little more basic in unit amenities while HGVC and Marriott are a little more plush. HGVC is slightly off strip with it's Flamingo location but still right in the middle of all the action and steps away from the Flamingo hotel/casino. Polo Towers is directly across the street from City Center, just south of Planet Hollywood and north of MGM. Marriott is also slightly off strip but very close to Planet Hollywood. HGVC's Las Vegas Strip location is further north and not really that close to any hotel/casino but, it's more of a resort with greater amenities like a nicer pool area, deli/convenience store and pool bar/restaurant. There's also Elera/Westgate Planet Hollywood, which is a resort in transition after Westgate lost/sold the management contract and HGVC took over. Great location but I'm not sure about the units or even who manages what. Eventually Elera through HGVC is a timeshare where I'd like to stay but I think we'll wait for the dust to settle a little bit more.

Then there are some off strip resorts that are maybe a little larger and have more of a timeshare resort feel to them. There's the Wyndham resort that's a couple of blocks off strip, Tahiti Village that's south of the airport and Grandview, with is maybe 5 miles south of Mandalay Bay but within walking distance of South Point casino. All are reported to be very nice resorts (haven't stayed at any personally) and are larger than the "on Strip" locations. They have more land, are more spread out and I believe have nicer pools.

Cancun and the Worldmark resorts that are south of the strip probably fit into the same catagory as Tahiti Village, Wyndham and Grandview but I have very little information on either of those two.

Cliff's at Peace Canyon is quite a distance from all the action. Tahiti, Desert Paradise and Club De Soliel are in more or less residential neighborhoods but have nice units and a more apartment complex feel to them (we've toured but never have stayed in them). Desert Paradise has changed ownership at least three times (Epic to Sunterra to DRI)

Our personal preferences are colored by the fact we own within the Marriott, HGVC an DRI systems. When we go to Vegas, we'll stay within one of those systems. I'm not certain my personal recommendations would carry a lot of weight as we are biased. Then again, there's a reason we own what we own. ;)

Last trip, we were in the Suite's at Polo Towers. Next trip we'll be at the HGVC Las Vegas Strip location. There are a lot of good choices. It just depends on what you're looking for in a resort and you're level of comfort.

We really like Grandview, and the large casino right next door - the South Pointe. It is on Las Vegas Blvd., but not right in the middle of the action, and we prefer that.

What is 'Best' to one person is 'the pits' to another. If OP prefers Marriott, then Marriott it should be.

There are a dozen or more timeshares in Las Vegas. TUG reviews are your friend.

More than 30 in the greater LV area!

I stayed at the HGVC Flamingo a couple of weeks ago and it was excellent. It's walking distance to mid-strip and close to pretty much everything. Just a nice, well run hotel operation. That said, I still really enjoy the Elara. Very nice "vegasy" condo hotel. A little over the top trendy, but great location and you will feel you've been to Vegas. I've stayed at these places for business, but when its for a vacation, my wife and I really enjoy the Tahiti Village. It has a real resort feel. Beautiful tropical pools and a relaxing atmosphere. The Wyndham Grand Desert is nice as well. Geez, how can you go wrong?

We just got back from 4 nights at the Marriott Grand Chateau. Great location, very nice property. Only issues we had was the water from the shower went all over the bathroom (we fixed that my building a towel "dam") and the washer/dryer unit didn't function properly and ended up shrinking several items of clothing. That said I would definitely stay there again.

We've stayed at Jockey Club, Hilton (the new one, not the Flamingo location), Grandview, Worldmark, and Wyndam. We've pretty much stopped staying at timeshares because we like the big hotels and being "in the midst of it all." Diligent shopping usually gets us a hotel room we're pleased with for about the same price, or less, than timeshare maint. fees plus exchange fees.

PStreet1 - You make a good point. For someone like me, I love Vegas but I hate smoke.. Maybe I'm just weird, but for me to enjoy Las Vegas for longer than a coupe days, I need space and a way to escape the throngs of people and thier smoke. I'll pay extra for space and air, when I'm there more than 3 days. On short trips a strip hotel expereince is fine.

You can rent full-sized timeshares in Las Vegas for the price of a hotel room. The last time we went to Grandview, I was going to do an RCI exchange, but it was less than $300 to rent from RCI, so we rented instead.

Last time we went to Vegas stayed at the Grandview, really liked being off strip, not having to inhale smoke all the time (seems to be that way when we stay in the hotels on strip). It was like a whole different trip (in a good way). 199 for a week on rci special, only used 5 nights of it and we were still pleased

I've stayed at the Grandview, Marriott Grande Chateau; the three HGVC at Flamingo, Karen Ave., and Strip; Desert Rose; Wyndham Grand Desert; and Cliffs at Peace Canyon.

All of them provided nice accomodations and perfectly fine locations, with the exception of the last one. Nothing wrong with the resort but it's a little further from the Strip if that is one of the main reasons for coming to Las Vegas. I've also visited a friend who was staying at the WorldMark on LV Blvd. so I'm familiar with that one as well. WM had a great pool area that families would like.

Read the TUG reviews and decide what's most important to you--being within walking distance of the Strip, being in a quiet location away from the Strip, or somewhere in between. They all have something to offer.

We Resemble That Remark.

We used all 7 nights.

Before snagging bargain Grandview reservations via RCI, we stayed in hotels when we went to Las Vegas. Grandview is lots better.

Happy as we've been with Grandview, we'd gladly try some of the other Las Vegas timeshares too if they show up as available via Last Call or Instant Exchange, etc.

A couple of times

We've enjoyed The Cliff's at Peace Canyon when it was just my wife and myself and were doing more driving around and adventure type things. We're not much into gambling as we got that out of our system about 20 yrs ago.

We've also enjoyed Worldmark which is again away from the main strip. At Worldmark we've been there with my kids (young adults) and also with 3 other couples. We were a mixed bunch with some being big gamblers and others like us.

The difference in the two for us is Peace Canyon seemed very layed back and relaxing and Worldmark for us was more fun, louder, and more Vegas feeling.

grandview

We will be at the Grandview in 3 days. staying for the week.
Like another poster said, we ALSO like being in vegas for more than the 3 day quick trip. so much to do and see.
We do like the Grandview. Being south of the strip, and still having the South point casino next door is a huge plus.

I just booked the Grandview for late September! We love the units and the proximity to South Point. This will be our 4th or 5th time there. We have stayed at The Jockey Club, Polo Towers (through a promotion), what was Summer Bay (both the nasty old one and the new one), and Grand Desert. Our favourite is the Grandview.
