In the past few years I have found that I enjoy going to resorts with "walk to" activities (restaurants, shops, etc.) so that I can do things in the evening without having to drive. For example, I own at a resort in the heart of Newport, RI where there are many shops & restaurants to walk to.

I am planning a trip to Orlando next year and was wondering if there were any resorts within walking distance to outside activities, shops, etc. The outside activities don't have to be too extensive. For example, I would enjoy staying at Disney's Beach Club resort because you have the shops across the lake within walking distance and of course you have Epcot.

Anybody have any ideas for resorts which have walk to activities in Orlando?

Thanks.

Thanks Alan. I actually own at Cypress Pointe but I have never stayed there. I will keep that one in mind. I also own Wyndham so the Wyndham resort may be an option. Not sure of the quality of the Wyndham though.

HGVC on I-Drive is adjacent to the outlet malls, and there is a Publix / strip mall across the street as well.

HGVC also sounds like a good option. Thanks Kurt.

I am planning on being there for week 52 in 2011 though so availability might be tough. I will be putting in an ongoing search next week but I need to decide whether to go through RCI or II as I have resorts which exchange with both.

Most of the Disney resorts fit that bill given location and transportation.

When you say you're not sure of the quality of the Wyndham resort, I'm not sure what you mean because they have several resorts in Orlando. Bonnet Creek is a flagship and very highly rated. Can't say about its "walkability" though.

Try to get building 6 - right by the mall, and plenty of extra parking by the side of the building. There are gates behind the building to get right into the mall.

Of the Wyndham resorts, Bonnet Creek is the nicest, followed by Star Island, followed way behind by Cypress Palms. Cypress Palms might be nicer when they redo it, but Star Island is much nicer and Bonnet Creek is the nicest and has lots to do at the resort. They also have a shuttle to Downtown Disney as well as the parks. Downtown Disney has a lot of restaurants. The hotels around Bonnet Creek (Hilton and Waldorf Astoria) are within walking distance and have restaurants onsite.

Learnalot, Alan recommened the Wyndam Cyress Palms and that is the one I was referring to as to not knowing the quality. I do know that Bonnet Creek is nice but it is not witin walking distance of anything.

Thanks Sea Six. I wll definitely ask for building 6 if I get HGVC at I-Drive.:)
