Best HGVC Choice for CES

Hi -

Hoping for some advice on the best Open Season choice for a quick stay during CES.

- I'll be arriving Sunday 1/5 late afternoon and leaving Monday 1/6 at 9 PM. A 2 night Open Season reservation is cheaper and works better than my current 1 night hotel booking at Bellagio - nice to have a place to take refuge during the day.

- I'm traveling with someone on my team, so need a 2br. There's availability at all resorts currently, presumably because this is not a preferred arrangement for CES goers.

- Karen Ave would be the obvious choice given Convention Center proximity, but I have to be at Ballys at 8am on Monday (ugh) and have another 5pm meeting mid-strip so thinking Elara or Trump may be more convenient/nicer and out of the fray. All 3 have regular shuttles to the convention center.

Can you help me choose? Thank you!!!!

My choice would be Karen Avenue / Convention Center, but perhaps that's too obvious.

1) Is it correct that there's no exercise facility? I will have a New Year's Resolution to uphold!

2) Can you reasonably walk to the Convention Center? If I have to take a CES shuttle anyway, thinking I might as well take the CES shuttle from Elara or Trump. But walking distance is a big plus.

3) Is it relatively easy to get taxis even when it's nutty there? One plus it seems of Trump is they have dedicated airport transportation. One plus to Elara is it looks like I can walk to that meeting at Bally's in the morning.

There is a small exercise facility there with a few machines. There is also a sidewalk width running track which extends around the parameter of the parking lot & TS building.

2) Can you reasonably walk to the Convention Center? If I have to take a CES shuttle anyway, thinking I might as well take the CES shuttle from Elara or Trump. But walking distance is a big plus.

Heck yes. You walk past the parking structure, through the hotel and pop out the side where the LVH Convention/banquet rooms are...15 minute walk each way.

Cabs are cabs & sometimes there are a couple lined up there waiting, other times you have to have one called. The monorail however is right on the property, less than a 5 minute walk from the front door of Karen. I'd just hop on the monorail to make a meeting at Bally's. Simple & maybe even a bit cheaper.

Greetings. This may be too late, but my preference when at CES is HGVC Flamingo. My rational is really based on two things:

1) Right next to the monorail, so I can easily get to the convention center in 10 to 15 minutes or taking the many shuttles that are available.

2) I would rather spend my evenings walkable to anything on the strip (Food / entertainment, etc)

So, if your intention is to just get in and get out and do the convention, than Karen ave (where I own and have stayed) is perfect. If you want other options available to you, HGVC Flamingo is perfect.

Either way, have a good time.

Really appreciate everyone's input.

I hadn't really even considered the Flamingo, since I was concerned it wouldn't be good for a business trip. I think I've been tainted by the Flamingo Hotel (which I'm not a fan of). But location next to Ballys is ideal for that morning meeting and the monorail stop really makes things easy.

I'm just there for one low-key night and a long CES-filled day, so I think I'll stick with Karen Ave since most of my time will be at the convention center. If I were staying longer, the Flamingo would be a great choice to be able to access stuff on the strip.

In any case, all of the HGVC options -- especially at Open Season rates -- are a big win over the standard, overpriced hotel room. Amazing that the 2 BR at Karen is $700+ per night through the Hilton web site. Quite a deal.

Thanks - it worked out great!

Hi - back from CES, and wanted to say thanks for the advice on where to stay. The monorail from Karen Ave/LVH was great - took it 5 times during the day with no waits at all (and can't beat $12 for the day!). Being that close to the convention center made things very easy to squeeze in some conference calls from my room between meetings. I do think for a longer stay I'd prefer the Flamingo location, but for one very long day, Karen Ave was perfect. Most painless CES ever!

Karen's pool was closed for upgrade and re-open date is unknown at the moment.
