We will be going to Busch Gardens in July and would like to know of some places to eat that have good food. Are there any good sit down restaurants that my 6 year old son would like?

Also, how about counter service?

Thanks for all who can help.

p.s Any places to avoid- bad food??

I guess it depends on what your 6 year old likes/dislikes.

We seem to gravitate to either Grogan's Grill, Trapper's Smokehouse, or Das Festhaus. It all depends on what we are in the mood for and where we are in the park when lunch rolls around. I personally prefer the food at Grogan's Grill or Trapper's, but the entertainment and cool climate (in the summer) at Das Festhaus is enjoyable.

You can see the menus of the various restaurants at the Busch Garden's website:

HTH,

we like traphouse/smokehouse for the food and italy/germany for singing

we usually do lunch at smokehouse or germany then dinner at italy. We do Germany when polka/singing is scheduled--very fun, and the same for Italy. My 6 yr old really like both.
Many times, if we eat lunch at Germany, we just take a little cooler bag with PBJ and juice box for the kids.
THey love the spaghetti at Italy.

The smokehouse! The food was actually quite good--believe me, we were surprised!

We haven't been to Busch Gardens in a long time (about 13 or so years). At that time I do not remember any sit-down restaurants. They were all counter service. Has that changed? Have they added a new restaurant? That would be great! I remember the food being pretty good, much better than expected, at the counter service.
We are planning to take the boys maybe next year.

I was talking about the one in Williamsburg. I forgot about the one in Florida--I guess I figured you would have posted that one on the Florida board!

The restaurants that I remember at the one in VA are counter service, cafeteria style, then you sit down outside to eat. I don't know about the German restaurant, maybe that's sit-down?

All the restaurants are serve yourself. Last summer they experimented with a full service option in New France, but this year it is back to being a reserved area for those who fork out $29 per person to sit there, eat Smokehouse food, and have a "preferred" seat at the Kinetix show. Same is true for the Festhaus- you can buy a reserved seat, but really, you don't need to. IMO, neither is worth it.

We live local and we enjoy the Festhaus for German and the Smokehouse for ribs, chicken, and an excellent beef brisket. If going for dessert, Festhaus is great, or the candy store in the German village area. La Cucina (Festa Italia)and Squires Grill leave a lot to be desired. The food in Italy is ok- my son loves the spaghetti and my husband likes the chicken parm...I'd rather have the Smokehouse. The shows at the Festhaus and in Italy keep our son (age 2) entertained.

If you just have adults in your party- beer school is fun, but it fills up fast. So does the tasting room at the Festhaus.

We like Trappers best followed by Festhause. Grogans is good but we usually aren't in Ireland at mealtimes. All of them offer a kid's meal with a hotdog or something similar. Festhause and the Itally restaurants also have mini pizzas.
