Bears-Packers Playoff Game Broadcast only on Amazon Prime

I know a little bit about this topic šŸ˜€

WM is trying hard to get people to move from Amazon Prime to a WM+ subscription but WM is really lacking in general merchandise compared to Amazon so they struggle to compete. That’s why the WM+ subscription is less than Prime — an incentive to get people to make that switch.
It's very interesting to me that WM is lacking in general merchandise - it seems like they'd be good at that to be honest - a lot of their physical store is general merchandise. I guess it's true that they don't have some things Amazon has, but I wonder why they can't improve it.

How do you get over the air TV in 2026? I live in Seattle and all I get are blocks. No signal. I tried an antenna and that was a bit better but still glitchy. 5 miles from the transmitter tower and lousy reception. I only use streaming now.

It requires an unobstructed signal from transmitting tower to antenna
There are lot of crap antenna that promise the moon and have big price tags
Then you need a tv or tuner that will handle a digital signal
I can post a couple of legitimate sites tomorrow for antennas

What is the age of the TV you are using? We had to buy a newer TV for our travel trailer to get OTA channels. I dont know the specifics but DH said it needed a different/special type of tuner in the TV. You also need to go into the TV's settings and do a channel scan for OTA channels if the TV was previously used on cable or satellite.

The most consistently proven indoor OTA antenna brands—
based on expert testing from CNET, Tom’s Guide, ZDNET, and Wirecutter—
are Mohu, Channel Master, Winegard, and Antennas Direct.

These brands repeatedly outperform the flood of no‑name ā€œ300–900 mileā€ antennas on Amazon, which reviewers warn are marketing fiction

Distance is less important than line of sight. If you can't "see" the tower (assuming you had the best telescope) you likely won't get the signal.

This tool is pretty accurate:

They just don't have their system "set up" like Amazon does where you could order a package of batteries and have it show up at your house next day.

I have a huge antenna on my roof in Wisconsin and it has a rotor which can turn it We no longer get anything. If you were to see an aerial photo of my house, you old not even know a house was under the tree canopy. Plus the house is about sixty miles from Madison.

I think you should check out Wal-Mart+ again, you absolutely can do that, and you can also get it in about an hour if you're willing to pay a premium for delivery, or 3 hours for just whatever you'd like to tip. For the next day there's no tip needed. If you're getting the delivery, you could also get a gallon of milk, a frozen dinner, and some salad ingredients along with the batteries.

But what about the other NFL fans that does not have Amazon Prime?
Shame on you NFL executives.
I agree with you . . . bad for NFL fans elsewhere.

This is my thought process, it may be a lower percentage of my age group. I do not order things online very often. Most of my friends don’t have prime, but my children do.
I find it funny that the poster feels offended that I doubt that %80% have prime streaming service. What I based it on was conversations with friends who say they haven’t seen a good movie or series because they don’t have prime so now I will get blasted for not having a good basis for my comment. Apologize in advance.
As for why *I* feel 80% is high . . . I know companies fudge their metrics especially to show value to potential partners and advertisers. If my household was a member of Prime for a 30 day freebie just to get overnight shipping, and then cancelled . . . we're probably counted into the statistics, but realistically we are not Prime subscribers/members.

I know, as RAPMARKS implied, I may be in an older demographic that doesn't want/need PRIME and won't pay for it. Many/most of my friends don't have it either. So I stand by my opinion that 80% seems high.

I don't need to check it again. I know about all of these services from the work I do in my professional life. Amazon has a much wider product selection than WM -- particularly for 3rd party sellers and niche products. It's not even close. Amazon's ability to get this vast selection of products to customers faster is superior than WM.

What you are describing is people shopping for you at your local WM. That's different than Amazon's distribution system.

Sure, streaming services are correlated with demographics. We're old but still get Amazon prime, and netflix and .......... :(

Just not where I live sadly (or maybe happily - I let Prime pause cause it's so bad for some reason. I think they hate our small town.)

I don't see why that isn't much better for me / the consumer than Amazon's system though? I get stuff from Wal-Mart with none of the counterfeiting issues Amazon is known to have with stuff like SD cards, I get it for similar or cheaper prices, and I get it in less or the same time. Does the consumer really care about the logistics chain that accomplishes that outside of the end result? I know I don't.

You do not seem to be uniformed about TV
But I want to ask if your TVs are new enough to use the digital format used in OTA broadcasts

TV broadcasts are now done in a digital format

But some companies fudge metrics so my opinion supersedes all these statistics. :crash:

How new do they need to be? Years ago, when they switched I bought four converter boxes, but we since got new televisions.
I use a Roku stick to stream
I also have one in the lower level that is a huge box tv that we moved from Illinois, bought in the 90’s for an enormous amount of money. The kid#s play old video games on it, and also watch an occasional VCR .

OTA Broadcasts switched to Digital Format in 2009-2010

They no longer broadcast Over The Air (OTA) using the old UHF/VHF format

The converter boxes you have may have been designed to handle the changeover

We have new tvs since then. But we have no cable service to our area

I don’t know if I can make it through another game like this one!

The 2nd half was wild to the very end. Great game.

both games today were amazing!

Does anyone know why Romeo Doubs (and a few other players) wears that big cushion-like thing on his helmet?
its called a guardian cap...been a thing to wear during practices for sometime, but only recently adopted as optional for players to wear during games.

its to reduce the impacts to the head and reduce concussions/cte/etc.

You sound like you are a promotor Zapperbox M1
I have reported you to admin
Most of your information is incorrect or an exagerattion
Hello emeryjre, FYI, there are now two digital standards for over the air (OTA) TV. The original one is called ATSC 1.0 and the latest one is called ATSC 3.0 which is also called NextGen TV. The TV stations in many of the USA's largest cities have migrated to ATSC 3.0. ATSC 3.0 can support 4K resolution over the air TV. I don't think your Table 4th Generation can decode ATSC 3.0 signals. Assuming this is the case, when the TV stations in your city eventually transition from ATSC 1.0 to 3.0, your Tablo will most likely become a paper weight. Furthermore, very, very few TV sets being sold today are internally equipped with a ATSC 3.0 capable tuner. That is why it is my recommendation to anybody who can no longer tolerate the ridiculous cost of even basic cable TV and instead would like to watch programs on ABC, CBS, NBS, FOX, PBS for free via over the air TV to purchase a Zapperbox M1. The Zapperbox M1 is a dual-tuner, digital video recorder that can receive both ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0 over the air signals today and so will not become obsolete when the TV stations in every city have transitioned to ATSC 3.0. If you are interested in learning more about the latest digital over the air TV broadcast standard (ATSC 3.0), and whether it is already available in your city, then please visit the website: watchnextgentv.com
This a blatant promo for Zapperbox
his information is an exaggeration and there is plenty of misinformation in his blurb

āœ”ļø Bottom Line

  • No OTA station in the U.S. is broadcasting exclusively in ATSC 3.0.
  • All ATSC 3.0 stations must simulcast in ATSC 1.0.
  • Some markets make the 1.0 version hard to find or low quality, but it still exists.
