Bears-Packers Playoff Game Broadcast only on Amazon Prime

I think this is by design to milk sports fans.
This is the answer. Many years ago something like NFL Sunday Ticket would get most of the games. The NFL has consistently moved more and more games off the Sunday schedule. It's always about the money.

Or...people could do what I do for the NFL, CFL, NHL, and MLS games that I want to watch. Watch the You Tube fast track version about half an hour after the game ends. I can go through the game in about10-12 minutes and watch it at my convenience.

We are interested in the Patriot game
Here is a great website for seeing game times and networks for NFL (and other sports.)

During the season it shows a map of the whole country and shows what areas get which (non national) games each Sunday. Here is an example for week 17.

I have a prime, but I don’t believe the statistic that 80% of households have prime.
I have had to miss a lot of Bears and packer games this year, including the last two weeks because I didn’t subscribe to the streaming service that was broadcasting the game. I don’t want another streaming service, I don’t enjoy going to bars alone, it is hard to find another Bears fan, and it has been disappointing.

I am glad you have the service you need to watch this game
Go Bears

I agree that 80% seems like a high estimate. We don't have Prime, except when we do the 30 days free for an urgent order, etc. And we already pay for enough TV via streaming services to not "need" or want to pay for another.

What is your source for your belief?

Why do you think it is high?

These sources may not be accurate, but they go beyond a belief and seems like:

This is my thought process, it may be a lower percentage of my age group. I do not order things online very often. Most of my friends don’t have prime, but my children do.
I find it funny that the poster feels offended that I doubt that %80% have prime streaming service. What I based it on was conversations with friends who say they haven’t seen a good movie or series because they don’t have prime so now I will get blasted for not having a good basis for my comment. Apologize in advance.

I imagine that probably isn't what a lot of sports fan want as an experience. I mean to the extent I needed to know I could probably search for the scores right after the game too and take even less time, but then I'm not sure I could care less about sports.

Well, I used to have prime when I could split it with my mom and sister. Now that I can't I no longer have it because I just had it for fast shipping (I don't watch TV on it) and the shipping got slower and Wal-Mart got better. Amazon all around got worse quality - they used to pack books so you might get them in pristine condition, now they're just loose in the box getting beat up. If I wanted a beat up copy, I'd buy a used copy lol. Then they got all the Temu stuff just marked up. So I'm trying to see how I can do without Prime. It's only been about a month, so we'll see.

Fortunately the Milwaukee & Green Bay local network (FOX) will be able to provide coverage. Elsewhere in the state, including Madison, not so lucky.
But what about the other NFL fans that does not have Amazon Prime?
Shame on you NFL executives.

Even funnier is you think I feel offended or that I "blasted" you. My point was that people's "beliefs" and "think thats" do not support challenging a statistic. I don't doubt that certain people are less inclined overall to sign up for Prime. But yes, your anecdotes about you and your older friends Prime usage made my case better than I could have.

saw somewhere that roku advertising has one of the largest audiences outside of google?

Well, that's changed my mind. I wouldn't have thought it even though "everyone I know has Prime" lol. I now kinda wonder what percentage of people have memberships at a club store like Sam's? I also knew it was "a lot" but I also found more people anecdotally who don't (or I guess don't mention it). I also wonder as Amazon has gotten more expensive and prime went up each year if Wal-Mart now providing same day delivery options and next day for a lot of stuff as well as their Wal-Mart+ being $20-$30 cheaper a year is peeling off any of those subscribers?

I also wonder where this leaves Target - I read they bought Shipt to try and get some online improvements, but I don't go (well, to any store) often, and haven't found any compelling reason to order from them vs Wal-Mart, eBay, Amazon etc. I imagine they must be hurting in this delivery market at least. I don't know that they are offering a prime like service.

In most subdivisions in my area of Florida, television is bundled in the community. In other words, you pay for the service the community hoa has chosen. You pay 12 months, even if you are there only three months. 80% belong to a membership that comes with streaming service.and how many other streaming services, yet still have to pay for a service they might not want. Then to top it off, nfl playoff and regular season games are not even available. Then you have my next door neighbors, who don’t even have a television in their house, and pay for a service they never use.

So glad I live in the country where there's none of this nonsense. We never got cable even because back in the 90s the rumor was when the sales guy was driving around to try and sell it too many people threatened to shoot him for trying to sell them something that was free over the air and "how dare he try and scam them" lol.

Many people pay for Prime to get free shipping for their online orders. There are many things bundled with a Prime Membership, free shipping on many items, discounts at Whole Foods, access to Prime Video, Prime Music, free GrubHub+, access to discounts on Prime Day, etc.

I have cable and use a Roku box to access streaming services, such as Prime. Obviously, the value of any of these benefits will vary from person to person.

I know a little bit about this topic 😀

WM is trying hard to get people to move from Amazon Prime to a WM+ subscription but WM is really lacking in general merchandise compared to Amazon so they struggle to compete. That’s why the WM+ subscription is less than Prime — an incentive to get people to make that switch.

Target’s grocery section cannot compete with WM. It is perceived as “oh I’m at Target for other things so maybe I can pick up salad ingredients”. Customers don’t go to Target JUST to grocery shop. They do at WM.

Are you are paying for cable service in Florida through your HOA
If so
You can view those channels in another part of the country

It is done using "apps" and a connecting your tv to your internet

If you are paying for cable in Florida,
And live somewhere else part of the year
Let us know
There are plenty of us who can guide you through hooking up your TV to the internet at your non-Florida location

We were told we could do this streaming up north when they sold the package to the subdivision, but it never worked. I tried nbc and cnn and I actually got a sign during jeopardy “you are not allowed to view this program”. CNN always had a sign saying temporarily unavailable. Always.
So I bought either YouTube tv or Hulu live and you can old not believe the amount of buffering I went through to watch tv.
I use a lot of other streaming platforms during the summer.

Hello Tuggers, I have long subscribed to cable TV but then last year they raised their prices AGAIN and that was all I could stand. I cancelled my cable TV service & returned my cable box. I then looked into receiving television the original way - over the air (OTA). It turns out that all TV stations in the USA are now transmitting with a digital signal. After research, I found a company that makes a tuner box to receive the OTA TV signals. This box also functions as a digital video recorder (DVR) so that you can record your favorite shows or football games or whatever. The box is small - about the size of 2 decks of cards. It connects to your TV via an HDMI cable. The box has an F connector, and this is where you connect an antenna. You have to buy the tuner box, a USB flash drive, a TV antenna and some RG6 coax cable to connect the antenna to the tuner box. The USB flash drive plugs into the side of the tuner box and is needed to enable the DVR functionality because all your recording are stored on the USB flash drive. Lastly, you also need to buy an annual subscription for the tuner box to receive the TV programming schedule data for all of the channels that the box receives (called the guide data). The subscription to this programming guide data costs $30/year and is the only re-occurring cost. Anyway, I have found that this tuner box works amazingly well. All of the major network shows, news, football games etc are in high-def. I have a two-story house and currently have my antenna in an upstairs bedroom. I live 20 miles from the TV transmitters that serve my city. You may need to mount an antenna in your attic or to the exterior of your house/roof. Higher is always better. Receiving OTA TV signals only works if you live in a city or near a city that has TV stations and works best if you are less than about 30 miles away from the TV transmitters. I believe that nearly all major cities in the USA have at least five TV stations: NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, PBS. In the USA, evidently everybody has a legal right to install an outdoor TV antenna per the FCC's Over-the-Air-Reception-Devices rule (OTARD rule). In other words, due to the FCC OTARD rule, your HOA cannot prevent you from attaching an outdoor TV antenna to your house/condo.

The tuner/DVR box is made by a company in Iowa called Zapperbox and the model that I have & recommend is the dual tuner-model "M1". The dual tuner model allows you to watch a live TV channel while simultaneously recording a program on a different channel OR it can record programs on 2 different channel simultaneously. I purchased my "M1" at zapperbox.com for $275. The shipping was free.

I purchased my relatively small TV antenna, RCA model ANT705E, from a local store home improvement called Menards for $40, but Amazon sells the same antenna as the Audiovox ANT705Z. I also purchased the RG6 coax cable at Menards. I purchased the Zapperbox recommended "SanDisk 512GB Ultra Fit USB 3.2 Gen 1 Flash Drive" from Amazon for about $45.

The money I saved by cancelling my basic cable TV service (service + cable box rental) paid for all of the above in under 6 months.

I use a product called Tablo 4th Generation to do the same thing
It does not have the recurring yearly cost for guide data
It sells for $99 in a 2 tuner model
I can also send the signal to other tvs and ipads
