Bayclub event week strategies

Hello,

As a new Bayclub resale owner (Thanks TUG), I wonder if there are strategies to reserve during Thanksgiving/Christmas weeks which are marked “event” weeks. Our deed entitles us to a 2 BDRM unit (7000 pts), but I found out that I cannot reserve week 51/52/47 since these are “event” weeks and the deeds need to have the rights to reserve these weeks.

Is the 9 month window good enough to reserve during one of these weeks? I would anticipate that there would be a lot of folks trying to reserve these weeks and you may not always get first priority regardless of ownership status at the Bayclub.

We have stayed at Bay Club (as well as Kohala and Kingsland) during Thanksgiving with no problem booking at 9 months.

And since it seems that TUG saved you a bunch of money on resale, you may want to consider paying it forward and becoming a member :)

Cheers.

When I look at the Bay Club season chart, I don’t see *E (Event Weeks) marked for weeks 51/51/47 (now, maybe I am missing it, because I am looking at this on my phone). They look like normal platinum bookings to me. You should be able to book now as Home Week bookings.

My bay club deeds say floating weeks 1-50 or floating weeks 1-51. As far as I know only week 52 was sold as event week at Bay Club.

I just went through this two weeks ago. Weeks 51 and 52 are indeed (no pun intended) event weeks. Not sure about 47 as that was not our goal for owning at Bay Club. I was told by the owners services manager (Gloria) that week 51 or 52 would need to be indicated on the deed. We ended up turning the sale down because our goal was to have week 52 every year.

My BC was floating 1-50 but booking 51 or 52 has not been too much of an issue at the 9 month mark.

So, if our only goal in having a property there is to book week 52, owning a week 1-50 deed has not been an issue? Due to the maintenance fee cost, might it be a better strategy to own a Las Vegas unit with lower fees and book in for week 52 using points, OR is there still some value to being an owner at Bay Club (not enrolled in HGVC) when attempting to get week 52 at that property?

I'm speculating here, but it might depend on whether an individual Event Week owner is enrolled in HGVC or not. If they are enrolled, and have not booked their home week, spending their HGVC points elsewhere, their week should be bookable via the HGVC website. If they are not enrolled, there is probably some other mechanism for them to use that has nothing to do with Hilton.

I wonder what the proportion of enrolled/un-enrolled Bay Clubs deeds is?
