Perhaps this change will prevent more owners from converting to DC points for a weeks based stay? I simply don't understand how adding additional checkin days will somehow justify what is already higher housekeeping fees? Trust me, I am always one to be suspicious of changes like this.

It seems that weeks based owners are paying for additional housekeeping costs related to owners converting to DC points for short stays. Trust owners pay additional fees in their per BI MFs to cover housekeeping fees related to trust points DC short stays.

I've never understood the thinking that Housekeeping costs for DC Points stays can be "hidden" somehow so that it's easy for MVW to charge Weeks Owners for them. Every reservation confirmation clearly states whether Weeks, Points, Cash or Marriott Rewards Points are being used, and it's a simple accounting/IT function to debit Housekeeping costs correctly.

Why is there this pervading sense that MVW is only too willing to take significant risks with mandated regulations re inventory control and ownership costs? I just don't get it. Angst over MVW not being as concerned as Owners are about keeping costs to a minimum, that I get. Angst over MVW shifting easily-audited DC-related costs onto Weeks Owners, which would put MVW's licenses and business at risk, that boggles my mind.
I've been involved in dozens and dozens of financial audits, both legal and non-legal, and its not as hard as one would imagine. Yes, if there are more than two cleanings for a week, it would seem the extra cleaning could easily be accounted for the DC days, and charged accordingly.(Even this can be fanagled if those mid-week housekeeping costs are marginally much higher than economies of scale might allow for the big weekend changeovers, but they are "averaged" across all cleanings for weeks and DC.)

Its more vague items such as desk staffing, etc. that can more easily be absorbed. No paranoia, just an understanding that the DC club creates a lot of added expense to the resort (vs. full weeks) that could more easily not be directly attributable to DC if there are now 5 "weeks" check-in days vs. 3.

Absolutely Against Mon or Thur Check In Days

I do not like at all the idea of allowing "legacy" weeks to check in on either Thursday or Monday. As it stands now, it is hard enough to get a check in date for Fri thru Sun - allowing Thurs or Mon check in would make it even tougher. If someone truly wants to check in on any other day of the week other than Fri thru Sun, they can already use Destination Points. Far as I'm concerned, this is an easy one - don't do it.

On a totally unrelated topic, I will use this moment to express my desire for better parking enforcement. I am an original owner (bought preconstruction) and every year, cars are parked under the buildings when they should not be there. There is a parking spot under each building for each unit (1 vehicle) but EVERY year, we search for a parking spot sometimes having to park outside. At the risk of irritating some owners/guests, this needs to be more forcefully enforced - that's just the way it is. Owners/guests will eventually get the message.

Don't forget to contact the Barony BOD and let them know what you're thinking about Thursday and Monday check-ins - they want to hear from Owners before they continue the discussion. That will be a good opportunity for you to share your thoughts about resort parking, too. :)

(from the email they sent in January and quoted in the first post in this thread)
Please share your feedback on this possibility by emailing your Board of Directors by April 15, 2016 at MVCIBBCOB~AT~vacationclub.com.

And welcome to TUG, Signguy! :)
