Banned from attending WM Sale Presentations

My friend and I, both WorldMark timeshare owners, have been banned from attending sales presentations at our favorite WM resort. When we check in, they never ask us to attend the sales presentations. When we ask about attending a presentation, we are told that our accounts are "up to date" and that the presentations are only for those who need help with "managing their accounts". We both have a lot of WM credits (24,000/25,000 each). My friend even bought 6,000 developer credits from this resort which we attend regularly. She owns 11,000 travelshare credits. I'm a resale WM timeshare owner. But it doesn't matter which of us has made the WM reservation, we are told that we cannot attend. We have always attended the presentations and enjoyed many great gifts in the past (wine & bites pairings, wine tastings, gift cards, etc.), but now we are no longer eligible for these gifts. Has anyone else experienced this?

Many people pray for this to happen to them.

I recently experienced that with Wyndham
First I was told “it was due to my credit score “likely” but, I have a 780 score… so that couldn’t be it. I checked the following day and they told me I had attended too often.

I then went to the next Wyndham property about a month later and they solicited me to do the owners update/walk…. Makes zero sense

If we are trying to kill time we might go to a presentation. I'm surprised they still ask us to attend as we haven't been through an entire presentation for years.

I wish. I have to say no like 36 times before they finally give up.

I, agree if you have not purchased any timeshare after twenty years. Why are the developers sales staff still asking you to attend a sale presentation?
No! Means No!

Look at it this way - you were able to grift the system for many years and get lots of "free" stuff (I would quibble with free since you spent your time, but you do you).
You had a good run, but now the free ride has come to an end.

Or this way: you clearly are misusing the term grifter, which is for a swindler (also odd that you quibble with your own words which I did not think was possible, but I digress.) A common definition is someone who gets money dishonestly by deceiving or conning people. More like what many public figures in society are doing these days.

Going to presentations does not make one a grifter, in any definition of the word. The presenters are undoubtedly grifters though.

I've been banned from HGVC presentations in Las Vegas. Something about being 100% resale. Also the sales staff didn't like my TUG shirt and telling the other victims about resale contracts.

So taking a free gift to attend a sales presentation you go to with no intention of buying is not deceit? I would expect nothing less from a Padres fan.

I understand where you are both coming from, but somehow calling the poor souls who go to attend a sales presentation, swindlers or deceitful is a bit harsh..

I have seen 80+ year olds who were talked into attending owner updates to 'learn' the system, only to be sold opaque junk trust points/deeds at various TS systems which are worthless for $$$$$, often with free food/drinks or other modest enticements, with significant ongoing MFs/costs, which they can ill afford...

Even TS sales people during their intro talk openly talk about how almost no-one walks into a sales talk for a TS, to BUY a retail TS; rarely are they a good purchase for most. well known fact. Most folks go to attend a TS sales talk only for a gift; enough DO buy for the TS co to continue this sales channel. They do deem some folks unlikely to purchase & hence remove from their promos/sales channels to focus on other, potentially more lucrative/gullible folks..

I prefer to never attend these, although I have been invited several times recently, despite my Legit PNG status... I attend only if the gift is worth my time; otherwise, I almost always decline & walk away...

TY!

That isn't what he said. Try reading it again. Most of us here would gladly buy direct at the presentation if they offered us a deal that was as good as we could get on the resale market. That the companies fail to do so isn't our fault.

Does anyone else find it interesting that the OP seems to indicate that they are upset they are not getting offers?

I've attended one presentation in my life. We were at the Worldmark South Shore location at Lake Tahoe. The 'concierge' people would not take no for an answer. I told them I'd never attend a sales presentation and made it clear to them that there was zero chance I was ever going to buy from them. They said they didn't care about that. Finally they upped their offer to a $200 Amex gift card and I relented so I could get to our unit. I fail to see how what I did was deceitful. I didn't want to be there. It was only because of their harassment that I ended up going. I would absolutely love to be on a list where I wasn't allowed to attend.

Nope. I 100% agree with the OP. For example, we are currently at the Camlin in Seattle in a 1 bedroom unit for 4 days using Wyndham Rewards points earned at presentations.

So you just took the points and no intention of buying anything? You might upset some posters here....

Of course not, especially when you tell them you are not buying and they say Oh that is ok, it is just an update. Even if they didn't, they do not give the gift on the condition that you don't intend not to buy. That is just silly. Who would ever do that?

Thinking that doing this is deceit is some real out there ideation, just like your Padres comment.

We have a very famous multi-Million Miler on Hilton side at TUG who uses OUs to earn Millions of HH pts. God Bless him & his DW for doing so.

I don't see how it is unethical to attend a presentation with no inention to buy. Lots of people do that---and some of them buy anyway. That's the sales' agent's job. What's more, there is no expectation that one will buy, only that one will devote some time to the presentation. As long as you commit your time, that fullfills your end of the bargain.

On the other hand, I cannot imagine taking offense at a timeshare developer deciding that I am no longer welcome to attend after many presentations without doing much if any buying. They are not giving these tours to hand out incentives. They are giving tours to sell timeshares.
