We recently had one of the big name frozen pizzas, and it was horrible. I sent feedback to the company.

Today I got a letter of apology and a coupon. I took it to say, "Sorry you hated our product. Have another one on us."

That's funny. Almost like, "So other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?" :hysterical:

Most likely they are suggesting to try a different kind of their pizza. It amazes me how much frozen pizza we sell. I hear it both ways from people as far as how it tastes. Some hate it and others would rather it then fresh.

This one was strange, more like someone in the plant with a axe to grind.

First, it was a three-meat variety, but did not have the sausage.

Then, after I had removed the cardboard disk and baked it, I discovered it had a second cardboard disk that had been stuck to the bottom. Because it was smaller than the crust, and I am a semi-blind OF, I did not see it.

So I had a mess.

You know what they say. Throw the pizza away, and eat the box!!

You should make your own. You can buy the dough and the rest is easy. You can place your own toppings on also. You can make thin or thick crust. We do all the time. I would ahve asked the co for my money back.

Do you have Papa Murphey's Take-n-Bake there? We buy 3 at a time using a discount coupon good for 3 pizza's, and freeze 2 for later use. A one-topping family size pizza is only about $7. They have a thick crust and are loaded with toppings.

This time, you need to [obscure and ancient TUG reference] boil it.

Aaaaa, yes! Boiled Pizza!

Brings back memories of many years past....boiled pizza!

The pizza's not the worst of it

"Mr Seagull - the peasant owners feel you are ripping them off. What should we do?"

"Give them a frozen pizza, step up sales pressure and raise the fees! If they survive the pizza they'll take anything we throw at them. Oh, have we rolled out the new annual fee collection commission plan yet? We deserve a commission for putting up with these whining moaners about wanting their money to go for repairs and maintenance of the resort. Don't they attend the maintenance meeting and see how nice the new units are? Have they no idea what it costs to run a multistory, Weasel infested sales center? These people want it all and I'm sick of it. Raise the rates again while we're at it - I need a new Bentley or two! And doctor up some more of those shots with me placed with some pseudo-celebrities! I love those things!"

OK. Let's just talk about pizza.

We had a handy Papa Murphy's in the city, and it was in our regular rotation. There was a Pizza Hut delivery that was equally handy, so it depended on who had the best coupon.

Between them was a Chinese place, for cashew chicken.

Nothing is handy where we now are.

What do y'all think of PH's Pizza Mias?

O. K. Pizza & So-So Pizza & Good Pizza & Outstanding Pizza.

I won't quibble with anybody who points out my standards aren't all that high -- shux, I'm even OK with CiCi's Pizza -- but nevertheless I have discovered over the years since my 1st Gusti's pizza that it's pretty hard to mess up pizza, other than by loading it down with stuff I don't like (e.g., little salty fish, etc.).

Pizza is like breakfast in that regard -- i.e., it's also not easy to mess up eggs & toast, etc.

That is not to say that all pizzas are created equal. Top quality restaurant pizza is way better than so-so cardboard pizza out of the freezer, & there is a wide range of acceptable brand-name & generic supermarket pizza fresh & frozen. Ditto restaurant & carry-out pizza, also home delivery pizza, not to mention take & bake pizza from Price Club, Safeway, etc.

Yet the 1 & only time I was served objectively bad pizza it was at a Greek restaurant in the nearby city of Falls Church VA. It was hard to believe, but there it was. That was a long time ago, before the advent of Domino's Pizza, Papa John's Pizza, Price Club, California Pizza Kitchen, etc. I believe Pizza Hut was already a going concern, though.

That Falls Church restaurant is still there, still in business -- has doubled its size from the time of the bad pizza. But we don't go there any more. On a pizza order, by me 1 chance at it is all they get. They mess that up & they've torn it for all time. So it goes.

Pretty much the same thing happened when one of my frozen dinners eliminated the packet of sauce (which I tossed) and instead put it on the food. They offered to send me coupons for free meals. As I explained, if I didn't like one, why would I want more? Still I received emails requesting my address for some time.

Bad Pizza, ah, yes!

I still remember our Carowinds pizza debacle. It was in the mid '70's and we took our 2 kids to Carowinds Theme park, just south of Charlotte,NC. We decided to have a cheese pizza for lunch since it's outlandishly high price was cheaper than any of the other outlandish prices. While waiting, we noticed that everyone who had a pizza was throwing away about half of it. I mentioned to my wife that it was an omen, and sure enough, we ended up throwing away about half of ours. Even after all these years, it is still the worst I have ever had.

Guess what we're having for dinner tonight?

Our Sam's Club has a fantastic vegetarian pizza, and various meat and cheese pizzas, uncooked or baked by them $7.88. Can't beat that unless you get the dough and make your own, which we do too.

Pile On The Veggies But Hold Off Calling It "Vegetarian."

Our Sam's Club has a fantastic vegetarian pizza
I think I would like Sam's Club's veggie pizza -- if they took care not to label it vegetarian.

If they left off the "V" word but called it a mushroom pizza with onions & tomatoes, that might get my taste buds worked up.

Otherwise, I'll take mine with sausage, pepperoni, meatballs, ham, & hamburger.

Yum.

Pretty close to Sam's Club, we had Wal Mart's tonight.

It was excellent. Afterwards DW said that's it with frozen pizza. We're just gonna get the fresh ones from Sam's or Wal Mart and stick em in the freezer.

Wal Mart pizzas. Do you think they're made in China?

We love their bread, too. The fresh-baked Italian bread. It's only $1.33 and commercial bread is $2.50 isn't it?

Wanna talk about bread for awhile now?

Punch Pizza

We used to like Papa Murphy, Green Mill and Detello's (a local brand). Then a Punch Pizza restaurant opened up and now, for my money, everything else pales in comparison.

Punch makes a neapolitan style pizza -- thin crust with little or no cheese that is flash baked in an 800° wood fired oven. :p

You can safely stay away from Amys frozen, vegetarian no cheese pizza and not miss a thing! Funtime

real cheese

I got a national brand who's stuffed pasta I like. The box might have come in second in a taste test, but it would have been close. THEN I read the fine print and they didn't even use real cheese! Shouldn't they have to label it "artificial product with a vague physical resemblance to pizza. Any pizza-like flavor is purely coincidental"?

Where do you buy dough?

That one sure sounds like you would be better off eating the box!!!

 Actually, a no cheese pizza tastes better than it sounds. The red sauce is generally very well seasoned with extra basil and garlic. Add sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, olives and a variety of other vegetables and it is very tasty. Don't knock it until you try it. Many of the pizza places around here offer no cheese pizza's
