After just getting back from the Big island on Saturday, we are all set to go to Maui for Kim's first of 2 surgeries.

We were going to go just for the day but we couldn't get a flight out of Molokai tomorrow morning. This flight actually got pushed back a an hour. That's OK though. We are staying in Kahului at the Maui Seaside and check-in isn't until 4pm. So we will grab the car and get some lunch.

We are staying really close to the hospital so it will be easy to checkout and head to the hospital. Our return flight is 7:30pm tomorrow night.

MKK is actually kind of busy. Most of the seats are taken in the waiting area.

@slip, can you provide a review of the Maui Seaside after your stay? I've heard it's been updated quite a bit from the dive it used to be.

Good luck to Kim. :hug

Will do. I'll take some pictures tonight. A lot of people stayed there for work and they said it was kind of a dive. I heard they put a couple million in a renovation. So we'll see.

It's really close to the hospital and restaurants so pretty convenient for this trip.

We checked into Maui Seaside. It's nice for what it is. I don't think the back rooms have been redone. We are in one of the back rooms.

It has a nice pool area and beach. The lobby is nice and there are plenty of places to sit and lounge.

They give you nice complimentary water bottles and there is a filtered, reverse osmosis dispenser in the lobby.

I got a Kama'aina deal and it was $199 a night. It will be about $250 after fees and taxes.

Good luck with the stones. I think kidney stones are the worse pain I ever had. Nice pics !!!

Bill

Best wishes for Kim to have a speedy recovery!

Hope all goes well for Kim!

Praying for Kim. I am sure that will be a relief. I know kidney stones can be painful.

Mahalo for all the well wishes. This is the 3rd time she is having this done and she is kind of ho hum on the whole ordeal. I know I wouldn't be. I had it done once and don't need that again.

This is the first time on her right side. These don't cause her as much pain but they have been giving her constant infections. I hope this clears it up.

We go in, in a couple hours.

As we are getting ready to check out, I just wanted to mention that I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here to Maui Seaside for a night or two.

There were some updates to the room even though it had some questionable repairs, everything was serviceable.

The main things were cleanliness, the bed and the shower. All those were fine. The showerhead was low for those who are taller.

I heard at the Maui Schooner that Maui Seaside was taken over by Hilton so we will see of more updates will be coming in the future.

All in all, for Maui is was reasonable.

Since Kim can't eat before surgery, I headed over to the attached restaurant next door. It's a nice local type place with reasonable prices.

It seems like there are more li also at this restaurant than people staying at the hotel. I even got a discount for staying at the hotel.

Crab cakes with Avocado Benedict.

Jeff, I hope Kim's Surgery goes well and that is a good deal for Maui...

Just got a call and everything went fine and she will be able to leave in about 30 minutes.

She'll probably be hungry, if so we'll grab something to eat and then see if we can get an early flight home. Otherwise we have a while to wait at the airport. shaka

All checked out of the surgery center and all checked in at the airport. We have a couple hours to wait but it's a short flight and a short drive home. shaka

She got up feeling good today and she decided to not fill the prescription for the pain medication. She's a tough cookie.

She had another doctors appointment on Monday for her next surgery so she called to see if they would be a le to remove her Stent for her. She's tough but she doesn't want to do that. :) The nurse asked me if I would do it but I had it done once and there's no way I was doing that.:)

So 2 more weeks and we are off to Oahu for her eye surgery.

Let’s see... My options are, a) I can play doctor and remove a stent from my wife’s body, or b) I can take a trip to Oahu and someone else will do the dirty work? I can’t believe anyone would even suggest option a. Enjoy your trip and I’m sure Kim is happy with your choice! ;):D

Years ago, I had a stent put in place from my kidney to my bladder for a kidney stone. When the time came, I went to the doctor to get it removed and anticipated that he would slowly and gently ease it out. So, he wrapped the cord (seemed like monofilament fishing line) around his index finger and yanked it like he was trying to start a gas lawn mower. YIKES!!! o_O

Exactly my experience. I couldn't believe how long that whole thing was. One thing I never want to experience again. shaka
