Could it be that Starwood incorrectly adjusted the staroptions (148100 2 bed L/O WOW)for this resort or is it just too new and people want a finished product to vacation? Every time I call they try to push this resort.Availability for July 12 would seem unlikey to me because this is prime family travel time and they have units available every week I call.
 
Part of the problem is also no press. I have not seen any announcements for Cancun or Princeville. There is availibility at both resorts.

Did Starwood forget there is a mail box on every starcentral account?

They verify my e-mail on every phone call, but yet never recieve any e-mails on updates, just lame"specials" or deals with using starpoints.

I don't know, but I bet they increased it as a sales tool, so that people who bought a 2 bdm at Cancun would be able to exchange to any 2 bdm. in the systerm. However, considering that I can rent my WKORV 2 bdm. for $3,400, it would be a waste of Staroptions to exchange into Cancun, because you can rent for so much less there.
 
I own both Hawaii and Cancun and I can't wait to visit WLR in June. I have traveled to both places many times. It is really a thing of preference as I would much rather goto Cancun than anywhere that I have been in Hawaii. The water clarity and beaches in Cancun are awesome and I usually prefer the people in Cancun as well. Therefore, I would actually be willing to spend more SO for Cancun than Hawaii. What a tough life we live, debating between beach resort locations :)

Thanks ,For a candid owner responce . Thats a great way to look at things .I was prepared for a little backlash from owners .I don't see why the lack of interest maybe TnR are right and there was not much information distributed. I expected to see no availabilty for a long time same thing with Princeville to a certain extent....High airfare maybe?..been there done that factor...??:confused:

I just got back from a presentation at Mission Hills. They were pushing Cancun as the lowest fees and best deal for Staroptions. 81000 for about $26,900 with some promotions.

Anyway it appears that the 1 bedrooms will be 81000 points to reserve in prime season.

That is different from what is on this chart:

There is a radically different staroptions chart for this resort now. Can anyone update the chart in the Starwood advise section?
 
I sent that SVN chart in to the Moderator (Jan07) before the SO change for Cancun as a PDF file - who sent it to the another Moderator. If I can download the new one - I can resend, but last time it took a while.
 
We are considering Cancun for October, 2008. Does anyone know if most of the units are ocena view? Also, how is the beach in that area? (We have never been to Cancun before.)

Transit, to answer your question, I think they are just offering Cancun because it is an attractive tropical destination. We were also calling about WSJ and were offered Hawaii several times, so I wouldn't say they were pushing lower-demand resorts.
 
I tried to attach the new pdf file for the SVN SO chart but it exceeds the limit. I have written to Moderator Bill about this - perhaps I can send to him and he can get it uploaded.

I have sent in the pdf file for the current SVN chart for inclusion in the SVN Advice Link (Sticky) - if you need it sooner - send me a PM with an email address that accepts pdf file - and I can send it to you.
