availability of Marriott getaways

We just returned from Marriotts Royal Palms in Orlando and had the most wonderful holiday. The resort was fabulous and we enjoyed using the facilities at the Marriott World Centre.....it was like taking a daytrip without having to drive.

I got 2 for 1 accommodations through Interval(they were offering this back in Oct. 2011)....redeeming 2 of my Marriott weeks and getting 4 in return. Worked out very well for our friends and family who travelled with us.

In the past I have acquired getaways from Interval for the March week that we need to accommodate our group. I didn't pursure getaways for this trip as it wasn't necessary due to getting the 2 for 1 deal from Interval.

Not too early to be planning for the next March break trip (2013).

My question is.....does anyone know how available Orlando Marriott getaways were for the month of March 2012? We own fixed weeks so I haven't read up on the points.....but I seem to have picked up on the fact that points may be affecting the available inventory for Marriott getaway weeks. Can someone please let me know if this is likely correct?

not many getaways for March in Orlando this year and they were very expensive. The few I saw didn't come available until December or later.
Easter is March 31st next year so that will also change availability in March

I wouldn't count on the Interval 2 for 1 exchanges to continue. They have gotten much more restrictive and difficult to book. I think it was a situation where II had extra inventory because of the bad economy and used this to get some $$ for these weeks.

March is a busy month because of spring break, especially in Orlando. Easter will increase the crowds in March 2013 because so many schools schedule their spring breaks around Easter. I don't think you'll see a ton of getaways at the Marriotts (and other top resorts) in Orlando for March 2013.
