I have always seen lots of Shearwater weeks with my supertraders, but suddenly I cannot see any at all.

I would assume people are using some of the weeks of the year for exchanges, but they sure aren't going into RCI weeks.

I am going to have one heck of a time getting a week, I think. Even in RCI points, inventory is very limited. Wyndham points also has very limited supply of weeks.

Aloha Cindy
Interesting! I see a lot of Shearwater in the data I captured in 2007. Most of the Shearwater was inside the 45 day window. I’ve only captured data nine times in 2008. The only time Shearwater that showed up in 2008 was on 4/5/08 for check in 4/10 and 4/13. During Dec 2007, there were several chances to pick up Sept thru Nov 2008.

Aloha Jack and Sara,

I am pretty concerned about our next Hawaii vacation because I cannot imagine not getting a week there. I just don't know where the inventory is going. Perhaps they are putting less deposits of Shearwater into RCI because they are going to work on the resort???? It does need some work, too.

Shearwater resort map

Does anyone have a resort map of Shearwater. I am wondering where Units 101 and 103 are.
Thanks. Jacquie

There is one on the TUGS review website. Click on View All Images.

Those are both ground floor units and should have great views if the foliage isn't too tall. We were in unit 202 just in between those. You can see the view from my photo link below.

We were in unit 202 last year (I think). This year, we were in Unit 207 which is considered a penthouse unit. I prefer 202 much better than 207, better view angle and better ventilation. 207 is way too hot in the afternoon.

We got unit 207 as a last minute exchange with RCI this year for July 4th week. So there is still hope...

shearwater

Has anyone seen pahio shearwater.
If they have trun to points , can someone you has points check?
Thank you
Linda:ignore:

Linda, I posted what I could see with RCI Points for next spring/summer under sightings. :)

Bear in mind each unit at Shearwater has an assigned check-in day. If you are an exchanger, the units that might be available to you are established by the check-in day for your exchange. After that returning owner preferences are processed ahead of exchanger requests.

If you are the only exchanger arriving on a particular day, and the returning owners have all made unit requests, you will simply get whichever unit is not requested by an owner.

Not even Kauai Beach Villas!

I used to see KBV almost every night available within a week or 2, but for the past week or so I haven't seen it, or BAli Hai, either. Wonder what's happening to all the inventory?! I did notice there are a LOT of those units available for getaway vacations, though!

I just landed a trade into Shearwater for July 2009 ! Having only stayed at KEK in Princeville before, we're pretty excited !

Be sure to call ahead and try to get any unit but 106, 107, 208, or 206. I think the only really bad unit is 106, but you might as well get a great ocean view, as opposed to a lesser view. The ones that I am listing are the ones that face the pool.

If you join TUG for $15.00, there is a wonderful spreadsheet under the reviews section for Shearwater that shows which unit numbers apply to the check-in day you have. All of the units have a good view, but I wouldn't want 106, and would rather have a unit above 106, rather than below it. It's worth a phone call, believe me. I would call about one month ahead, then again about 2 weeks out.

RCI should have more availability for exchangers, and I think it is partly due to the Fairfield takeover of PAHIO that is causing the lack of inventory in RCI. I don't really get it, because certainly people are exchanging their weeks more this year than ever before. RCI might be witholding inventory, just as II does, but I could be assuming something that isn't true. Even in RCI points, inventory is very limited. I will have to watch and watch to get my week for next spring, and if I don't, I will use FF points to get a unit.

When in July? We'll be there from July 11-18, staying in 212. I don't like 207 either as it got really hot this past summer. Direct western sun exposure...

Lisa, Finger slip there. I did mean 207 is less desirable. I did really enjoy 208 in 2007 and would definitely take that unit again.

No problem Cindy. 207 actually has a pretty good view but heat is something that I could not stand. I believe in winter and spring, this unit should be fine.

There's a last minute Shearwater on RCI right now for Dec. 21st (if I remember correctly). Sure wish I could go spend x-mas there!

Note that this thread is from August, and it was dug out of mothballs yesterday by a new guest.
