ok......it's a different world.......I'm concerned about getting into the elevator at Eagles Nest this week without my mask (and I just got my 3rd moderna booster in August).....and this is a group of 50,000 people!!!!! (I'm terribly sorry people were killed/hurt).......and yes, I can take this to the COVID forum....not wanting a debate....but just thought WOW about how differently people are thinking.......

Last time there was an incident like this there were some tips on how to try to stay safe. First one being do everything you can to maintain your feet. The other I remember is to cross your arms over your chest, or to start out from the beginning with any backpacks strapped in front of you to try to give you breathing space. I can't even imagine being in this situation.

This reminds me of the people who died while waiting to attend the Who concert in Cincinnati several years ago. Ever since that concert, I will only go to smaller venues with all reserved seating. There is nothing more terrifying that being in the middle of a crowd serge.

Watching the Houston News Reports this morning. Their is way more going on than what the national press has said so far (at least from what I have seen). Their was news coverage of a mob of people breaking through a security entrance at the Stadium before the concert started. According the the person doing the voice over the video, this happened at several entrances to the arena. When I say a mob, we are talking maybe a 1000 people. And this was at one entrance. So the crowd of people was probably larger than the number of people that purchased tickets.

In the video, the security people and police officers on horseback were trying to stem the flow of people through the entrance. They had no effect, people just ran by. If you get a chance to watch the videos on Houston TV via the internet, it is an eye opener.

It would appear that many of the crowd had no respect for the rule of law in any manner, shape or form. Pretty scary stuff to watch.

40+yrs ago? After that, "festival seating" was eliminated for many years.

What happened in Houston is shocking. So sad for all involved.

Of course, it's doubtful anyone would have backpacks.

I've attended the Indy 500 many, many times. The attendance is thought to be about 300k. I specifically remember leaving an F1 race there years ago, and yes, it was terrifying. We were packed so tightly in crowd. It's hard to explain. People were moving all in the same direction and I suppose it was orderly, but to be so confined.

Anyway, hope the packing, moving and hubs are all doing well, Faith.

This is really sad. I am baffled that a 10 year old, thereby un-vacinnated, is allowed to go into a crowd so large, and is attending a rap concert.

My great nephew (who is not very tall) was there with three friends. He ended up separated from his friends from the surge and he was knocked down with people stepping on him. A larger man picked him up by his shoulders and instructed him to hang on to him and he walked them to safety. Southwest changed all four boys flights for free and they arrived home safely last night.

If you read the news, you would have been under the impression that something like this could never happen in Texas because they do everything right.

Here is a video. It seems like it loops twice. When I view it, the first half has no sound and the second half has sound. You can see several people in the crowd being knocked down by those rushing to get in

Let's blame the victims who were trampled to death. How about the 9 year old who is in a medically induced coma after being trampled ? Must be because of all the drugs he was on.

Toxicology reports will have to be a key part in helping assess what happened, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said Monday.
"That's going to take weeks," she said.

While organizers have had issues with crowd control in the past, it is too early to draw conclusions about exact causes of death, Hidalgo said.
"There's a lot of evidence of drug use. Could that have been part of it? It's hard for these families to grieve without answers," she said

This is the reputation of this thug.

Often times, the rapper encourages his concert-goers to get rowdy. Scott has been arrested at least two times for inciting riots and disorderly conduct at his shows.

In 2015, the rapper was arrested after encouraging fans to jump security barricades during his Lollapalooza set, which was promptly shut down. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to one year of probation, according to Billboard.

A few weeks after the 2017 New York concert, Scott was charged with inciting a riot, disorderly conduct and endangering the welfare of a minor after he encouraged concertgoers at the Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion to rush the stage, injuring a security guard, a police officer and several others. He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and the other charges were dropped, according to the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette and The Springfield News-Ledger, part of the USA TODAY Network. He was ordered to pay court fees and restitution to two injured people.

Happy to hear he was safe, the whole situation is so sad. It reminded me of a night club fire I was watching unfold live on the news one night. I happened to have been up at 4am flipping channels and on the news was a nightclub fire. Patrons were bottlenecked at the door with smoke coming out and you just watched them suffer. That live report has changed my thinking whenever I’ve gone to large crowded events. I always look for exit signs anywhere I go

So many people lost theirs shoes, are they going to go the whole day without shoes?

These people are not true Texans. Real Texans would have flown to Cancun.

That's true... real Texicans fly to Cancun while "suckaz" starve and freeze while the power is out.

But "freedom" isn't free I guess. :cheer:

My great nephew and his friends had stored some of their stuff in a locker (which they couldn’t go back to). Not sure how the kids will get the stuff back? Some dropped their phones to the ground but didn’t dare try to retrieve them.
