Got here last night, first visit. Before we left home (NY) got a call inviting us to a presentation - offering $100. I told them NEVER AGAIN. Polite, polite - but firm. At check in, sent to a second desk to get a *Welcome Package* - and asked again to go to a presentation. NEVER AGAIN (quoth the raven . . ). The phone just rang now- 8:30 pm (we are now here 25 hour) - again asking us to attend a presentation. still polite, still adamant - NEVER AGAIN. Did not even get into the lousy $100; let's see - that would buy NINE whole points???

Each time, I briefly tell them that we are uncomfortable in the presence of duplicitous, high-pressure (even when that is passive . . ) people, and IF IF IF we ever waned to buy points, we know who to call. We know that others here jus sit there, take the money, and are fine with that - we are not. No criticism of those that do - just not us.

Unplug the phone - your friends and family will call your cell phone.

Didn't they offer Marriott Reward Points? Strange that they were stuck on $100, which I wouldn't have taken nor will I take.

Unplug the phone or at least turn the volume down.

No offer of any points - although that would not make a difference. If I still wanted to hear lying BS, I would not have retired . . . . Do not get me wrong - we like to travel, like staying in larger spaces with a kitchen, etc. even though we not not use most of the facilities at a TS - we do not do sports, do not use the spa (I have massage covered at home by insurance, and do not do the whole cosmetic/facial thing), and generally like the Marriott places we have stayed in. We have all we need in properties, etc. - and this is Not the only thing we do to entertain ourselves.

I hate, hate, hate all the phone calls you get from Marriott personnel when you are on vacation. Not just the sales people, but each day they call and list the next day's activities, which I can view from the activity sheets you get when you check in. Also, there are calls offering a free 5x7 if you schedule a photo session with the photographer. I always complain about the phone calls when I fill out the surveys afterwards. Like Denise said, just unplug the phone - that's what we started doing.

Last time there I forgot to unplug the phones and I noticed the flashing red "message" light flashes all the time. Now they leave messages without actually calling/ringing the phone. An improvement... (but we ignore the flashing light.) :)

I just purchased our Marriott TS, so we haven't had a chance to experience a Marriott TS yet. I don't like hearing about all these pesky phone calls. Like Denise said - UnPlug. :p

Is is not possible to leave a message about "no sales calls" at the front desk when you check in? I also find these calls annoying but I am usually interested in attending owners update meetings in order to find out what's going on. Some of them have been pretty good.
