Hmmm.... Does he live in Spring Hill, Florida?

According to the real estate sales web sites like realtor.com and zillow, the price of that auction is about the same at which entire 3-bedroom houses have been selling in that neighborhood in Spring Hill.

I wonder what floor the timeshare penthouses would be on? At the HGVC meeting there a couple weeks ago they said the top floors that were going to be condos have not been built or sold and are bare concrete.

A person can take that $140,000 and buy 933,333 Wyndham points ($0.15/point) from any resort. I seriously doubt any resort will turn you away with that high of a Cashier's Check!

TS

My bet is that Wyndham would take the $140K and sell you 1,000,000 points including the Presidential Reserve status giving you top ownership status in their system. That would be worth a lot more than a penthouse in Vegas!!

I think it's likely that the person with the listing knows full well that it isn't going to sell and has no intention of selling. Rather the "seller" is trying top create the appearance that there is a market for the unit at that price. If questioned, the person can then pull this offering, along with some others that might be in different locations. as evidence of an existing market. We're in tax season so perhaps it related to some tax deduction strategy the lister is planning to claim.
