This is an excerpt from the latest review on Trip Advisor about the Surf Club beach:
>>>"With some preconceived expectations of beautiful white beaches and crystal clear Caribbean waters, the Surf Club beach was our biggest disappointment. Murky and mucky, the water was not at all tolerable. Day after day we watched new arrivals gleefully race to the sea only to turn away in disgust when their feet hit the squishy bottom and the awful odor of decaying seaweed in the stagnant waters. While we found much more swimable beaches to the south near the Hyatt and the yet to be completed Riu, walking there was somewhat of an inconvenience."<<<
We have been seriously considering renting a villa at the Surf Club (since getting an exchange seems impossible), and don't know if we want to pay big bucks to rent if the beach is that bad.
For those who have been in the water there, is it really this bad?
Thanks for the help!
