So, I remember there was a post some time back there was a post about the co-op deciding to deciding to dredge the beach to deal with the after effects of the hurricane. Anyone have a status update?

C.

I've read several posts that they did complete the dredging and the issue was resolved. No complaints from friends who were down there recently.

I think there have been a couple posts at Tripadvisor.com. One of them mentioned some work being done on the ocean floor in front of Surf Club. Not sure of the time frame though.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and the beaches are fine. Not to worry:D

I'm at the Ocean Club now. Based on what I read, I left my snorkel stuff at home. Should have brought it. Water is like a post card. All you smell is rum mixed with suntan lotion. This place is fantastic. It is also about 80 degrees warmer than home! When you get here, let me know what Bon Bini means. I have no idea but everybody seems to say it. My guess is is Aruban for "aloha" or something.

MikeM132: I think it means "Good Day". Let me know. I want to get it right! We will be there next month & can't wait. Have you gone to the casino over @ the Marriott Hotel?
I am going to call/email the Ocean Club Rooms Coordinator soon about room location. Where are you? What view/floor/room numbers wld you recommend? We will have a 2BR.
Have a great time! Will you be there all week?

Smooth Air:cool:

The Ocean Club with or without problems remains a wonderful place....

Bon bini means Welcome!

Si is yes

Bon dia is Good morning!
Bon tardi is Good afternoon!
Bon tardi is Good evening!

Ayo is Good bye!

A very usefull word is Macha Danki which means Thank you!

And finally Dushi wich means Sweetheart...

room request

Hi
we own there as well and would recommend you ask for a high floor in the middle of the U. It will actually allow you to see the ocean.

The casino is not really very good. Every time I go they have problems with their slot machines, they are in poor repair. Its not too far to the Holiday Inn and Hyatt, their casinos are usually better. Have fun and have an aruba riva, best drink on the island.

smootair: We have a first floor that looks over a walkway/open area to toward the Marriott hotel/casino. Quite possibly the worst view here. I think we could see the ocean (sort of "ocean side" at other places) if we were up higher. Also, there is no washing machine room on the first floor. I suspect those of us who exchanged and never requested anything got down here. Still, it's fine for me.
I spent about 90 min at the casino watching my wife run slot machines. I am really not a casino guy. I also spent about 45 min doing the same thing at the Hyatt casino. Marriott seems a little bigger, but they are pretty much the same thing, in my opinion. They do have a bar and live music (at least they did Saturday night when I was there).
