Aruba flight cancellations

What are everyone's here thoughts about the risk of visiting Aruba right now?
Seriously? A land war on Aruba? o_O
I haven't read details but an FAA, as in AVIATION, risk-off makes sense, given that the US has fighter jets patrolling the area and Venezuela certainly has some fighters. If the VAF were dumb enought to scramble their crappy fighters there could be "kinetic" activity in the AIR in the area. Maybe the VAF has Suicidal Tendencies?

On the land? On Aruba? June =/= "right now" on my calendar

Who said anything about a land war in Aruba?

Just a reminder that Aruba is part of The Netherlands. The Netherlands has previously had some military in the area (at least they did in August 2025) in order to patrol for boats attempting to escape from Venezuela.

I've been to Aruba several times, and my personal concern would be with flight disruptions, and not with anything happening directly on the island. Flight disruptions and/or shipping disruptions could also have an impact on the food supply.

Just Waikikifirst. No one knows why. Maybe they like arguing with straw people?

Just curious - did the airlines pay for the extended hotel stays, changes in airfare costs to leave & meals?

Only if the delay is caused by the airline. For things like staffing or maintenance. If it is outside their control, like weather, they don't. In this situation they would have only helped to reroute or reschedule those with impacted flights.
