Going to be staying at Playa Linda. Need to rent a car while there. Any suggestions on who to use?

I've used Amigo car rental. Right at the airport along that stretch of rental agencies. Sussette has always been very helpful.

Do you plan to use the rented car to return to airport or just partial week rental then return it near resort you are staying?
Do you plan to tour the island yourselves via rental and possibly off-road to eastern coast area (rough road surface)?

I believe there is a Thrifty right near Playa Linda, outside of Dushi Bagels. And there are national chain desks at the very walkable Marriott hotel and timeshare, others nearby. I'd get a one day Jeep rental if you plan to day tour, use a basic car other days.
 
We had been using Economy for the past 10 years,but they were bought out. Last year we used Top Drive. They were fantastic. We are booked for next Christmas and New Years.
 
We have always used Royal with no problem. Steven at the desk is friendly and you get a discount if you go through the visitaruba.com website. Also, as a side note, get the visitaruba.com card. You save lots of $$$.
 
Tropic Car Rental - Hans picks you up at the airport (he will do the paperwork off site so you don't have to pay the extra costs associated with renting at the airport) and then again picks up the car from you at the airport when you go to leave. One time when we used him there were major storms and most streets were flooded. Luckily we know all the back ways to the airport and finally got there - sure enough so did Hans! :hi:
 
I like Eurocar.......didn't find the thrify rates too great
 
I would never rent from Thrifty. 2 years ago we had a 7 passenger car booked with them. They did not have the car, they offered no alternatives and we had a hassle getting our deposit back. We ended up renting from an off site rental agency that I honestly thought was shady.

Tropic is good but he never has availability when we go. So, Top Drive it is.

We have rented from several airport vendors but we rented from Tropic on our last trip and were very satisfied. Hans is great, I will use him from now on.
