So I ordered some nacho cheese, tostito rounds and ginger-ale (don't judge me) for free next day shipping from Wal-Mart. Well, for some reason they shipped it all in one big bag together. One of the tostito bags got burst open and when I went to take it out of the shipping bag it just spilled out all the tostitos. That shipping bag isn't sanitary so I asked for a refund. Well... you can't talk to a person anymore - like no way. I even tried calling and just got a voice AI. It refuses to listen to you about what actually happened and insists you take the empty bag back to the store, or have FedEx pick it up. I'm kinda going into town tomorrow anyway so I have a couple options.

  1. Take it to the store. This'll take a while but also potentially be hilarious.
  2. Drop it off at Dollar General FedEx drop off. This might be easier but seems unfair to Dollar General and their employee.
  3. Print out a new label for the empty bag and have Wal-Mart pay FedEx to pick it up. This is probably the easiest for me, and might take the absurdity to a new level and cost for Wal-Mart to make them pay for the stupidity, but I would lack any feedback and also I figure it might well get lost by FedEx mistaking it for garbage.

This happens to me all the time. Pick option 3 and Walmart will say there is no need to return it. The most hilarious thing comes next when they suggest that you may donate it, use it or throw the item away. My last damaged item was a broken glass jar of salsa.

#3. I like the easy way.

In reality, I would probably do nothing because options 1-3 are worth too much of my time vs. the cost of the chips. Of course I just wouldn't shop with them again, so they would lose my business.

But if I have to choose, I would do number 3 because it's the easiest for you and is absurd. Maybe write a handwritten note to give your feedback. I love absurd.

I've had Amazon tell me to keep a few things...
A smushed bag of pretzels and a can opener.
.

yes, Amazon would just say keep it and give you a refund.

But admittedly I read the first sentence and tried very hard not to judge ...........

Well, I was in town anyway and figured it'd be more humorous to return it to the store, and was sitting in the parking lot to do so when it said "you don't need to return this". IDK, I think they should start there rather than have you figure out which method isn't a PITA for you.
