ARP Question

Question for the group:

I have 126K CWA points which, as you all know, gives me 13 month ARP at some of the resorts. If I use the 126K ARP points to make a 13 month booking, and later cancel that booking, will I get points back in with ARP again, that is, can I now make a new reservation 13 months out, or did I lose any chance I had at using the ARP with that first reservation I made? My assumption is that I can make a new reservation with the points designated with ARP at 13 months.

Along the same line of thinking, how does Wyndham decide what points to pull? I also have 154K points converted deed from Fairfield Glade. I assume if I am at 10 months or less, they pull non ARP points first?

Thanks,

Essentially, yes. It's not really "first," but the points available for your ARP benefit will not be decremented, as shown on your Benefits Summary page. Here's an example from my account:
benefits summary.JPG

All of my reservations this year were made inside 10 months, so I didn't use any of my ARP benefits. The CWP points line shows that I have 5,250 points remaining for the year, and the red circles show that I didn't use any ARP - if I had points available (and if there were more than 10 months left in my use year), I could use my full ARP benefit at either of those locations. I assume if you make an ARP reservation, the points available for Home Resort goes down, and then if you cancel it goes back up again.

You know, I never looked at the benefits portion of the website. Thanks for this!

It's...a lot. It can be confusing - it's not well explained or documented and to see all those rows of numbers (some of the headings honestly I'm not even sure what they mean as distinguished from others) can be very overwhelming. But as long as everything's working as designed (lol), it should show the remaining points that can be used for ARP, Points Deposit, RCI Deposit, which can be really helpful especially if you've used Points Deposit in previous years and so the benefits attached to the current year points may seem less clear.
