Polo Towers, which is directly across the street, has had this issue in the past. Our HOA installed a rather expensive water treament system in an attempt to keep this from ever happening again. Since installing the water treatment system, I don't believe there's been another issue Now, with this happening at MGM's largest project, I'm wondering exactly what is in the water in Las Vegas?

FWIW, when it happened at Polo Towers, public health officials did a little drama play by handing out flyers to all Polo Towers guests and making a huge deal of it. I wonder if the city of Las Vegas pulled the same stunt at Aria.

I worked only 2 blocks from the Bellevue-Strafford in Philadelphia the summer of 1976.

I think what ticks me off is the Las Vegas health department made a HUGE scene when this was detected at Polo Towers. Lots of pamplets, finger pointing and scare tactics. With Aria it's much more subdued and down appears to be down played as not a major issue.

A timeshare gets a bad wrap and has the LV health dept. drama team out in full force. People where going to die seemed to be the health departments theme with timeshare. With Aria, the same issue gets you a get a fever, chills and some muscle aches.

ahhh Doug, but you don't seem to understand....MGM is a HUGE employer and player here in Vegas....;)

City Hall understands very well which side of their bread is buttered on....and as you have pointed out, it's not the timeshare side :ignore:

You are correct, I have been in Vegas since this story "broke" and there is nary a word about it now that it's come and gone....

Yea, I understand. ;) The media is more into sensationalizing some news while barely reporting some stories.

You want media sensationalization??? Just check out all the pre-weekend drooling by local media outlets concerning the coming expected doom of CARMAGEDDON!

There were hardly any that just weren't about wetting their pants just hoping and waiting for total traffic melt down...

But as with so many over sensationalized events in my hometown of LALA Land, the closing of the 405 came and went without incident....

RE: the Aria event (or media non-event). I think you are correct in perhaps surmising that since this is primarily a one industry town, the local media cozy's up to the gaming industry. For example, the publisher of one of the local papers just wrote a front page article expressing his love and admiration for one of the casino owners that ended up loosing a controlling stake in his own casino....To read the article you wouldn't of thought that the owner had any part of mismanaging the joint....but such is life here in this little patch in the desert. :)

To give you another example of the "establishment" and their cooperation with the casinos...

If somebody has a heart attack and dies in a casino, an ambulance will come and transport them, sirens blazing, etc., as if they were still alive. Even when it is obvious that the person is dead. Nobody is allowed to die on a casino floor in Las Vegas.
