RCI Weeks: LaCosta Beach Club, RCI Points: Oakmont Resort, Vacation Village at Parkway. Wyndham: CWA and La Belle Maison, and WorldMark.
It is probably my faulty memory, but I swear there used to be more Wyndham Resorts on the Club Wyndham home page (where one can search by location). It seems now that WorldMark resorts are everywhere Wyndham was (although there are still some Wyndham resorts) but of course to stay in a WorldMark resort requires a $99 charge....

I tried searching the forum a bit for a thread on this but I couldn't find one - apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere.

Not feeling so happy about Club Wyndham these days....

No, there are actually more Wyndham resort locations as the system is continuing to grow. There are several locations that have both Wyndham and Worldmark resorts side by side. Wyndham now owns/operates both Worldmark and Shell Vacation Club.

What locations do you think are missing that used to be available as Wyndham resorts?

You must be overlooking all the Wyndham resorts east of the Continental Divide, where WorldMark has very few resorts, and where the majority of Club Wyndham resorts lie.

It may be that you are thinking about what used to be affiliate resorts that were available for booking that are now only available to Club Pass members in both systems (although I know WM grandfathered in older resale accounts on the WM end). I am a WM owner and there were many who were confused when they increased the size of their ownership via resale and lost their access to affiliates...but the resorts were never ours...just dots on the map that looked like they belonged to us. The same may be true of what you are remembering. My grandfathered account still gives me access to the affiliates...but my newer resale account does not. Since I knew they weren't part of my system, it didn't confuse me...but I have seen others ask similar questions to yours.

Its not fewer Wyndham resorts, but they have been removing some of some of the inventory from Wyndham resorts and adding it to Worldmark

I know that when there is a foreclosure at Avenue Plaza those weeks get added to Worldmark, and recently inventory from 3 resorts in S. Florida and I think Pagosa was added to Worldmark

Ron,

It is interesting that you mentioned Pagosa because that is precisely the resort that sparked this observation. We have vacationed at Pagosa (more out of default than anything) the last two years because we just can't plan ahead sufficiently to take best advantage of time share. That is our fault - not Wyndham's - to be sure but prior to both of those trips there were a LOT of openings at Pagosa all summer long (both years).

Once again, this year being similar to previous years, our planning ahead did not occur and when I looked at Pagosa's availability for this July it was non existent. There is no way something is going on in (at) Pagosa that ate up the inventory for a 7 day stay in the entire month of July.

In recalling last year's trip, we looked around the entire Pagosa resort (an incredibly beautiful place by the way - and I should add that if someone stumbles across this post we were very pleased with the accommodations and the things to do in Pagosa in July - a highly recommended destination..) and did NOT see any construction so that pretty much leaves a shift of inventory FROM Wyndham to WorldMark as the only rational explanation. That seems wrong on so many levels because now I'd have to pay an extra $99 to stay in what I had been staying in previously by just making a reservation.

Sorry to gripe there.

BigRob, and CO_Skier,

I entirely defer to you on the overall inventory since that is something I have I have not tracked over time. Part of my issue is location - from Arkansas, there are not a lot of resorts close by - and the other (as mentioned above) is our inability to plan ahead. Hopefully, we will get better at this as our last child is one year from moving on to post high school life.

LadyCody,

Thanks for that info. I have to admit that we have probably never made the best (maximum) use of what we own and now that we are trying to increase our usage, I am probably discovering limitations that were there all along.

One other item - I just called Wyndham Pagosa and they did confirm that inventory from Wyndham Pagosa was moved/transferred to WorldMark mainly in two communities (Ptarmigan was one of the two mentioned and I think Village Point the other but that may or may not be correct).

Funny that Pagosa is the specific resort of reference for you -- as it has been, from the WM side, for me! This fall with be our 5th consecutive visit to Pagosa for a horsey-related conference. For our first year (or two?) I was delighted to book Pagosa as an Affiliate destination using WM credits. When Club Pass was introduced I lost my easy access to Pagosa and refused to book with the $95 fee! Grr!

So imagine how relieved I was when some inventory was shifted from Wyndham to WM? Yeah! So sorry to learn of its difficulty for you. Please accept that I *feel your pain* on this topic and location!

FWIW, in my "in-between" period, I found lots and lots and lots of Pagosa inventory available as Rentals or low-TPU exchanges in RCI. It seems that Wyndham likes to drop heaps of Pagosa to RCI.

There are very limited cases in which Wyndham inventory has been transferred to WorldMark. The more likely scenario is that WM owners are using Club Pass to exchange into Wyndham resorts (and vice versa).

Club Pass is available to book in the other system at 9 months. Club Pass can help make more balanced/efficient use of some resorts, and it sounds like Pagosa is one of them. Unfortunately, this affects your historical booking pattern.

Consider the 8-9 month point as your new booking window for Pagosa, if you can.

I also sent you a PM.

Does WM wait list crossover through Club Pass? If it does cancel rebook is going to be a lot harder to get done!! Also very unfair to Wyndham owners with no wait list! Availability will be gone before we can even see it!

No waitlist with club pass

Thanks Ron for clearing that up. Owners anger aimed at mega-renters is really unfounded. You own points or weeks like all owners & its up every owner to use their ownership how they choose!! If you don't plan ahead it doesn't matter how big or small your ownership is this system isn't going to work!!
