Are there any member benefits to multiple weeks?

We currently own a week at Aruba ocean club, but have considered getting a second on the resale market for the high season.

I see in the member info benefits that kick in over 4K points (e.g. 13 month reservations) but nothing about multiple weeks.

I read in the FAQ on this site that if I had 2+ legacy weeks at the same property and was willing to book concurrent/sequential weeks I could reserve 13 months in advance… but if I couldn’t (different seasons) I would be limited to 12 months

Are there any member benefits to getting additional resale weeks? The 13 month reservation ability would be an amazing benefit, but only if I don’t have to book 2 week trips (e.g. book high season for spring break and gold season for a week in fall)

The only benefit we saw/felt when the system was pure legacy weeks was a higher priority for unit assignment within our view category when staying at a resort. Other than status of being a multiple week owner I do t recall anything that was of real meaning to us.
Honestly it’s been so long since we were weeks owners I don’t recall any meaningful benefits to owning multiple weeks. We never booked consecutive weeks so that benefit was of little use to us. How it would affect unit place, ent or if it even improved ours back then I can’t say for sure. Maybe there was something I’ve forgotten or something that wasn’t a lot of value since we’ve always used our ownerships for periodic vacations spread out throughout the year as breaks from the tediousness of long work weeks.

I don't see any direct benefits if you can't reserve concurrent or consecutive weeks. You would have the extra volume of course. Do you need a full 2 BR? If not, you might consider exchanging options. You might also consider buying a week to exchange in which shouldn't be difficult for Gold weeks with appropriate planning.

You can get a trader which is cheaper and book concurrently then deposit one week in interval to exchange to Aruba for the fall Is that possible?

First, "ownership of weeks" is a great advantage if you own great weeks at better resorts and in good seasons. You can use them, exchange them, or even rent them out. If the weeks are enrolled you can also exchange for points.

Second, the 13 week reservation privilege for concurrent or sequential weeks is a great advantage especially if you have better weeks which are generally hard to get with points. You are at the front of the line to make reservations from an inventory only available to week owners.

That will limit the usual trading resorts slightly depending on the weeks they normally want to travel. IMO that limits one to HL, GV & GC leaving out Manor Club and Willow Ridge of the usual trading resorts.

Thanks all - curious on the term “trader”? I saw reference to GV. Is that grande vista in Orlando? If so I’m guessing they are less expensive but have good trading power?

Yes traders are weeks that you can typically buy for a few hundred to a few thousand dollars, depending on the specific resort. They are all resorts that lockoff, and typically have lower end maintenance fees. The list is typically Willow Ridge, Grand Chateau, Grande Vista, Harbor Lake, Manor Club Sequel. If you do a search of this forum you can find a bunch of threads discussing this in detail.

IMO a "MVC trading unit" is something that's cheap to buy, has lower fees, trades fairly well and has a lock off option. That would be for Platinum season only. The ones jwalk03 mentioned are the usual ones. However, of those, only the 3 I mentioned would have a season such that you could reasonably reserve concurrently or consecutively with a Platinum Aruba week. Now sometimes a compromise might be reasonable. Say you wanted to go to Ocean Pointe routinely but trade it occasionally? Or you could get a Platinum CA desert option cheap enough to make the higher fees worthwhile. Realize none of these are super strong traders but they are good to very good if you chose a good week and they meet the other criteria I mentioned. Aruba Gold season is not a difficult trade overall though some weeks might be a little more difficult like weeks 26 & 27 but fall should be easy if you are flexible and you need to be flexible to make exchanging work consistently.
