Are getaways added "last minute"?

We want to go to Orlando in May (for two consecutive weeks).
I already booked our first week in a Marriott from Saturday to Saturday. The next available week starts however on Sunday, so we would have one night we would have to cover differently.
The other option would be to use a different resort (westgate) which has significantly worse reviews than Marriott.
My question now is if it is likely that getaways would be added "last minute" by interval and I should wait or better book right now.

Have you check Sheraton, Holiday Inn Orange Lakes or Diamond for a Saturday check-in?.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry, forgot to mention I use interval. Orange lake and diamond is RCI I guess? However I did check all Orlando resorts within II.

What about calling to see if you can add directly to your stay 1 night to fill the void.
You would pay Marriott's price but not have to find something else.

This is commonly done at our locations.

Last minute additions are less likely for Getaways than Exchanges. I see lots of studios and 1 BR so am assuming you need a 2 BR or more. I would book what you can at this point.

The Westgate reviews might be colored by their slimy sleezy sales tactics so take a hard look at the details of the resort. It might be a good option if you can avoid the sales presence.

It will probably boil down to the inconvenience of a motel for one night to get the Sunday check in at the Marriott vs a lesser resort with the Sat check-in. It depends on how many amenities you need onsite. If all you need is a place to stay while spending the day elsewhere, then the older resorts will do nicely.

@Tank: I will look into that. 157 USD on the marriott website is about 50% of what a complete week costs at interval, but it might be worth not have to change to another hotel

@sue1947: Actually I am looking for a studio, but I just checked: for the last saturday in may it still looks bad...

I tend to see getaway inventory dwindle over time instead of get better. Last minute additions are also likely available through exchange, do they may go quickly. You could consider renting DC points from a Marriott owner over on vacationpointexchange.com to fill that one night void. Points run up to 450 points for a night in a 2BR unit. The cost is about $0.50-$0.60 per point. So this may or may not be higher than just renting from Marriott.com. The owner would need to make a reservation for you and put your name on it if you are not a Marriott DC owner.

What resort and unit size do you currently have booked and what is the dates. Looking on II now, there are a lot of back to back weeks in a studio. I don't see any 2BR units out there in getaway except at the Palms properties at World Center.

That is an excellent suggestion dioxide45, thanks. It would have been 110 Usd then which is significantly less than on the website. However I got nervous and booked westgate lakes on interval. While not being as good as the Marriott it doesn't seem to be too bad.

Just stay away from the sales weasels. DO NOT agree to go on any kind of timeshare presentation or tour. No matter what they say. They will even try to tell you it is mandatory when you exchange in, it is NOT.
