I have to ask the board a question, and it probably will show our "rookie" status when it comes to the whole timeshare scene.

Anyways, we have our search in for 3 weeks in April, in hawaii. Doesn't have to be consecutive in the same resort.
NOthing has matched for close to 6 weeks now. WHen our search was first put it (3 mo ago), we were hitting tons. Mostly in Kauai. We decided then to just wait to see what other resorts would come up.

Now here is my question. When i do the search on RCI's extra vacations, there is TONS of availability, of course you'd have to pay the weekly fee rather than the exchange fee. Would the extra vacations be a good indication that closer to 45 days out that we SHOULD get a match? Or is that wishful thinking?

Take care and thanks from western canada
Aaron

Basically the trades appear to go through a booking cicle. For instance if a resort dumped its units into RCI for trading and after the 1st 30 days no one snaps them up, they are opened up to Extra Vacations/Last Calls and rental sites.

So if you run across a trade that meets your time, location, and size specifications...you should always take it.

That's why I get to go the places I want, when I want, and in the unit I want. When I get it, I snag it.

To have the best luck, you need to put in your request 12 mos. ahead - a lot of people actually do deposit and exchange that far out - especially for Hawaii.

Another issue is that Easter is April 12th - and both the week before and after are high season and in high demand, so you have a lot of competition from April 3rd - April 17th.

Also, your deposits may not have the exchange power to get the top resorts, so they may be there, but you may just not have access.

Kauai is our favorite island - I'd take Kauai in a heartbeat!

Good luck!
