approx cost of taxi to/from Cancun airport

Hi- i was wondering I should book ahead of time (Cancunshuttle.com) for transportation for the 4 of us to the Royal Sands from the airport. I believe the price was $75 rt...or should I just get a regular taxi when we arrive? TIA Janis

Our cost was $55 roundtrip. We paid the driver $45 going from the airport to the Royal Sands, and $10 from the Sands back to the airport. FYI, we booked through Brant's site.

Taxis are quite expensive FROM the airport, but not too bad returning TO the airport.

I recall from our recent trip, taxi rates were around US$50 from the airport, and around US$20 returning to the airport from the mid-hotel zone area.

Since there are only two of us, we usually get a shuttle at the airport, and use a taxi when returning to the airport.

We use one of the airport vans FROM the airport - it's around $12/pp and I think they're all the same price - and a taxi TO the airport for around $15-$20 for all four of us. It works out cheaper that way than booking round trip with Thomas More or Brant, and we prefer the taxi back to the airport.

Pre-booking a van is a good idea so you don't have airport hassles on your arrival. You can do this just 1-way from the airport or RT, on Thomas More (royalresorts.com) for the Royals, or Brant (entertainmentplus.com) for any resort or hotel. Both are good services.
