If for some reason you are going to stay in Hawaii this week, 7-13 Nov, be aware that APEC is happening until 14 Nov.

Also:
1. Fort DeRussy will be fenced off to include the Hale Koa. (Yes the Military can still do this. Fort DeRussy is still an active Military Fort.)
2. Streets will be closed down as the Foreign Dignitaries drive around.
3. There will be SS, FBI, and Military everywhere inspecting and doing random searches.
4. The Lagoon Next to Marriot in Ko Olina will be closed. I can't remember the days. I think just the weekend.
5. No boats within a certain distance to the beaches at Waikiki and Ko'Olina. I believe the diner cruises that pick up at the Hilton pier will be cancelled.

I hope you still enjoy yourself during your stay.

HELP! I'm trapped in my unit. There's a black 8' chain link fence in front of my unit. In front of the fence are a series of large concrete traffic barriers. The exit ramp to KoOlina will be closed on the 11th & 12th. I'm told the fence barrier will be patrolled and lit at night. Seems like an over kill to me.

A little late post...

It was over on the Tuesday morning after President Obama left for Australia. I heard it took four ours from the airport to HHV in the worst case. And on Monday, some people missed their flight back home because of the road closures. And every car one by one had to go through inspection at the road leading to the yacht harbor before getting into the waikiki areas. It took 30 min to one hour from the bridge over Ala Wai to HHV. On my way to HHV, I got out of taxi cab in front of Ala Moana Center and walked to HHV. Also I really walked around the area because I did not rent a car and I could move faster than a car in the Waikiki areas. Overall my plans were not so much affected by APEC. I think I was lucky.
