Welcome! It is addictive!

Select the rightmost set of vertical dots so that you can select spoiler

When you select Spoiler you'll get a popup where you can title your 'Spoiler', most of us just hit enter, then you'll see a set of SPOILER tags in your post:

Now you can insert your solution, between the brackets:

And you have your hidden solution:

copy and paste your solution here, between the tags

Note: Sometimes, like on my cell phone or when travelling and using a VPN, I can't select as described, but I can type the tags myself, but in those situations I usually resort to just doing what you just did in your post (as other things don't work well, either).

I truly turned a two into a three by getting fumble fingered. I can’t believe it even accepted by second word. After finishing Wordle, I googled it and got nothing. Sigh!

c. 1400, spalden, transitive, "to splinter, chip, break apart" (spalding-knife, for splitting fish, is attested from mid-14c.), of uncertain origin, perhaps from Middle Dutch spalden, with cognates in Middle Low German spalden, Old High German spaltan, German spalten "to split" (see spill (v.)).

It survived in Scottish and Northern English. The later form of the English verb is spall (1758), back-formed from, or altered by influence of, the noun. Related: Spalled; spaller; spalling
