A four today.
After two guesses, I figured I knew the last four letters....but at least four possibilities for the first letter...including M,L,F,D.
So, I tried MOLDY on my third guess....which had three of those letters. If none of those were in the word, I would have tried the F.
So, my having a give-away third guess, I got it in four, but eliminated a SIX (or worse)

Four. Annoying. Had the last four letters on line two. That left three possibilities for the first letter and I had to go through all three to get it. Worse yet, I almost put the correct letter in on line two but decided to defer to the other two possibilities.

Three. I really should have had it in two, but it was my bad that I did not. I was fairly sure that the word that I had put on line two had been used recently and should have looked harder for what turned out to be the correct answer. Haste makes waste.
