Thanks, Amy. I just did the math. I've known Brian since we were both 16, so it's 55 years now. Hard to put a value on such a long friendship. We went to high school on Oahu together, so that was home. We were all together on Maui the year before the fire, and we enjoyed the Big Island a week after that. They've never been to Kauai, so we want to give them the full experience. This will be lots of fun. :D

Maybe you can get in at the Tip Top. JK
It's wonderful news.
Best wishes.

I am still very close with a friend I’ve had since we were ten, so 41 years for us, so I completely understand the power and importance of family-by-choice. She and her spouse are now “in loco auntius” for my daughter, sine they are all now in NYC.

Family-by-choice is a great way to consider it. He was eldest of three in his family, all boys. His parents jokingly called them Number 1, Number 2, and Number 3. I was pseudo-adopted in during high school, and became "Number 1 and a Half." :D His mother was like a second Mom to me, until her passing in 2001.

Ohana is everything.

Just seeing this now Dave. Happy to read your friend is doing well. Sounds like you have a great trip planned and will create more wonderful memories.
Thanks, Anna. We're all greatly relieved. He was sick during our last Hawaii trip a few years ago, but wasn't diagnosed until they got home. He's been in treatment pretty much ever since. This will be a nice break for him.

They live in Virginia, and will come here to Nevada for a few days of exploring and laughs, then we'll all fly to/from Hawaii together. They'll spend a few more days here after Hawaii, before flying back to their home in Virginia. That breaks up the jet lag a bit, and won't needlessly tire him out. His wife is truly like a sister to me, and she and I discussed the easiest way to make this trip happen. This will be a fun time for all of us. Renting a two bedroom oceanfront timeshare from a good Tugger friend is icing on the cake. :D
