So I deposited my 1 bedroom side of my Ko-Olina week for 2008 (exp 2010). I am looking at a fairly last minute trip to something in the Carribean (Beach) for Feb 09 or Apr/May 2009. However, I am having no luck finding anything. What are the chances that something will come up in Curacao, or St. Kitts, St. Thomas. Etc. Is Feb/Apr and May too close? Does Ko-Olina not have the trading power I was led to believe? Do I need to place a request and just wait.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You need to place a request to have a good shot at getting something in the caribbean.

Mid-Dec through Easter is prime time in the Caribean...definitely put in an on-going request. May is off-season (in Aruba anyway & that's my area of expertise!). For prime time, you may have to wait until Flex for availability. For May, you shouldn't have any problem IMHO.

ok

Pardon my lack of experience, but can an "ongoing request" be made even though my week is already deposited?

Would it be better to do request first in the future?

There are two ways to find a exchange

-first Look for an instant match of your deposit online. What you want may just be sitting there.

-Second - Do an “Ongoing Search" / "Pending Request" With your deposited week, you tell II which resorts/area and what weeks you willing to travel and their computer will try an find a match for you. (Sometime this it is called a "deposit first") Generally II will match someone with a pending request before it lets its computer display the week for instant exchanges.

Hope that helps

A request first search, means you don't deposit your week while II tries to find a match. You'd do this if you wanted to have your current week as a back up in case they can't find a week for you. I only do this if the week I want to travel is before the week I have reserved at my home resort.

PS read "the FAQ of II" at the top of the exchange board
