Hi! My family and I made plans to attend the special 400th anniversary weekend of Jamestown May 11-13, 2007. :whoopie:

I am confused  over the tickets offered for attending the different areas (Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown) plus apparently there are some tickets that are only valid during that weekend and can only be purchased in advance!! Can anyone shed some light on any of this? I tried to log into the jamestown2007.org website but couldn't get it to load - I have dial-up service for internet.

Thanks!

Hi there! Yes we are going and cannot wait!!!

You will need to buy individual daily tickets for the Jamestown 400th events that will be taking place on Fri-Sun, May 11-13. They are $30 per person per day for adults, with no 3-day special pricing. So for us it was $180 for the three days (just two adults).

You also will need to buy tickets for Colonial Williamsburg which are sold at their visitors center or via their website: http://www.history.org/ . There are daily and annual passes available. Which is best for you/your family will largely depend on how many days and how much you want to do and see in Williamsburg. They are not good for the Jamestown 400th events or venues.

For us, we bought the Independence Pass which is good for one year, gives us admission to all of the CW venues and provides for free tickets to their evening events (which run $10-$15 each). There is a lower tier annual pass which is like $55-$60 but with that one you only get 1/2 off on the evening activities so if you're going to do more than 3 or 4 of them, it's best to get the Independence Pass.

Here is the entire ticket page from the Jamestown 400th webpage, which includes the phone number you can use to call and order your tickets since you are having internet challenges:

Thanks for all the info!!

Timeshare Von:
Thanks for the info :whoopie: Now I can show my hubby, who has been pestering me over that schedule!! Did you see Jeni's post about the Virginia Living Museum exhibit? We might take that in one day as well since we'll be there from Wed, 5/9 through Mon. 5/14.

I'm also a member of FF Yahoo group and have read your posts! We'll be staying at the FF Gov. Green. Who knows, we might run into each other and say Hi!

Getting excited about going - just not the packing for my bunch. We hope to make use of the TS laundry as some have suggested and therefore not be bogged down with too much luggage!

Thanks again!

We can't wait!!

We are going with a group of 9. :whoopie: Seven of us will be staying in four 1 bedrooms at Patriot's Place and one couple will be staying at the Manor Club. (They had DVC points, the rest of us are on EVs.)

We already have our tickets for all three days at Jamestown and we got our Independence passes when we were there for President's week. I am getting tickets to just about every evening performance we think we can squeeze in. We are staying a second week and I am thinking of getting the VA resident's pass for Busch Gardens.

We are complete Williamsburg junkies and would not miss this for anything.

I wish that there was more information about the shuttle bus satellite lots and the schedule. We will probably focus on afternoon and evening activities for the 11th through the 13th and I wonder if the lots will fill up.

I have been to the Virginia Living Museum (about 10 years ago), it was nice, but VERY TINY!!!! Maybe only an 1 hour worth of stuff to look at (and that is generous).

The Virginia Living Museum has recently undergone a huge renovation and is very nice now. I would devote at least 3 -4 hours to see all of the great exhibits.

Yvonne, we have our tickets for Jamestown, purchased last Oct when we went to CW. We do not intend to do CW again as there are other things in the area we would like to see. In your post you said "You also will need to buy tickets for Colonial Williamsburg which are sold at their visitors center or via their website: http://www.history.org/ . " Why would we have to buy tickets to CW when we do not intend to visit there...Maybe I am reading this wrong. Linda

Linda,

You wouldn't . . . but the OP said they also wanted to do Williamsburg which will require that "they" buy tickets for Williamsburg if they want to take in "Colonial Williamsburg" as in the sites and attractions that are CW.

For those just planning to take in the events at the three Jamestown venues, you only need to have the daily tickets for the Jamestown 400th event.

I'll be there in spirit. No way can I get my wife into the Virginia area for anything other than caving anymore. :(

Jamestown 400th Anniversary - UPDATE

For those going to Williamsburg to take part in the Jamestown 400th Anniversary celebration, Queen Elizabeth II's itinerary has been released: http://www.colonialwilliamsburg.org/visit/eventsAndExhibits/specialEvents/queensVisit.cfm .

It may have been out for a while, I'm not sure . . . but I was disappointed to learn that her trip will actually be more than a week BEFORE the celebration weekend. I can understand and appreciate the security logistics and other issues, so it may actually make the visitors' time in Jamestown more pleasant. I'm just sorry to learn that she will not actually be there during the celebration itself.

Also, if you bought your tickets for the Jamestown weekend events, they tell me at the CW ticket office that all tickets have been mailed. If you do not have them by Monday or Tuesday of this week, you should call them at 1-800-HISTORY to inquire. Ours haven't arrived yet, so I'm getting a bit anxious and may be calling early this week (again) myself.

My 9yo loves Jamestown, but we had every intention of not being in there when the Queen is there (too many people). Oh well, looks like we picked the wrong weekend. May just skip Jamestown and go to Busch.

The Queen won't be there over any weekend. She's scheduled for a Thursday and Friday, with a trip to Louisville for the KY Derby Saturday 5/5.

We will be there the weekend of May 11-13. We have a 3 bedroom and a one bedroom at Governors Green and are meeting extended family. We are all looking forward to it. My daughter(9) and I are going to Jamestown tomorrow for a school field trip so I hope she is not bored when we return in two weeks. Although I know the activities will be different and of course there will be thousands of extra people.

Cindy

Yvonne, thanks for the link. My daughter was/is trying to be one of the students at William & Mary who gets a ticket to be close to the Queen. The students are all a-buzz about her visit!

How fortunate that would be!! I would love to see her in person, but alas, not to be!

Yvonne, Indeed she got the tickets to be in the front section to see the queen up close! Way cool!
