At first glance it seems odd (fishy, perhaps) that the email comes from a free gmail account instead of a Marriot email address. I would recommend you do not respond to this or follow any links found within.

I also received the email and decided to check it out. The "NEW Marriott Timeshare Owner's web site" is the one discussed in this thread: Marriott Vacation Club Inc. explained in a video
